The are many signs and portents indicating a failed, broken one term presidency for Barack Obama, potents relating him to Herbert Hoover, LBJ, Jimmy Carter and even George H. W. Bush (see Appendix I and II below). There are ominous signs specifically relating him to FDR and his failed New Deal, the highly politicized pork larded model Obama is using for his economic recovery plan (
see).
But perhaps the mother of all omens foretelling misfortune, failure and woe for Obama, a sign coming from someone who was nearest and dearest to his heart, was the death of his grandmother Madelyn Dunham roughly one day before his historic election. Dunham, a former bank executive, had been suffering from ovarian cancer for some time and became gravely ill after breaking a hip shortly before Election Day-Obama temporarily suspended his campaign to be by her side for her 86th birthday before she died. The nation was stunned on November 3rd to learn the news of Dunham’s death with some Obama supporters losing heart and fearing it was a portent of defeat. But Dunham’s death was no such sign, at least for Election Day. Though Obama won the election many found it painfully strange that a woman who lived over 86 years and more than 31,000 days couldn't stay alive a few days more to see her grandson's historic victory-an event that would have made her the proudest and happiest grandmother on earth. The unfortunate timing of her death smacks of senselessness and cruelty and lends credence to the atheists' view that life is void of meaning, that there is no God or justice in the world, that all is chance and accident. But this isn't so, as you will see below.
Now the unusual timing of Dunham’s death was either accidental or providential, the result of random chance or by the ordered workings of Providence. If the death was accidental then it was senseless and meaningless, a simple matter of bad luck that Dunham couldn't live another day and leave this world in the triumphant joy of seeing her grandson elected President. But if her death was providential, intelligently directed and designed by a higher organizing power, then it was a portentous sign that Barack Obama’s presidency will of necessity be an unfortunate one much like Lyndon Johnson's, Jimmy Carter's or Herbert Hoover's. Indeed, that Dunham’s death that day was fated and ominously related to her grandson's historic achievement in becoming our 44th President is indicated, I believe, by the following extraordinary signs:
November 3rd the day of Dunham’s death (Eastern Standard Time), one day before Obama became 44th President-elect, was the 44th anniversary of Lyndon Johnson’s victory over Barry Goldwater (John McCain‘s predecessor in the Senate), a victory of great expectations and soaring hopes of social justice, progress and idealism gone awry that tragically turned to dust by the end of Johnson's term.
As Dunham’s grandson was the third Chief Executive after Warren Harding and John Kennedy to come directly to the presidency from the Senate it just so happens that she was born 600 days into the short lived Harding administration as Obama himself was born 28 weeks into the ill starred presidency of John F. Kennedy. As Kennedy was tragically killed by an assassin in 1963 Harding died of a stroke in 1923, in the early part of August when Obama would be born (see notes 1 and 2).
But the most compelling sign that Dunham’s death was providential and prophetically related to the fate of her grandson’s presidency was her date of birth as it relates to her end. For Dunham was born on October 25*, 1922, that is to say in the 22nd year of the 20th century a number which is half 44 the number of Obama’s presidency.
Moreover, when we breakdown Dunham’s birth date into single digits and add them up it yields the number 22, hence:
1+2+5+1+9+2+2=22
But perhaps the most compelling and ominous sign indicating divine intervention in the timing of Dunham's death is the number of weeks separating her birth from the extraordinary date of her death; for these are 4488 in number, or the number 44 and its double 88 (see note 3). In other words, from these calculations we get the number 22 a factor of 44, 88 a multiple of 44 and the number 44 itself strongly indicating that Dunham’s death and her grandson’s presidency are inextricably linked-linked to signify, so it seems, an unhappy and tragic presidency; unfortunate in the sense that as Providence denied Madelyn Dunham the joy and happiness of seeing her grandson’s victory so will joy and happiness be absent from his time in office as it will be an unsuccessful presidency, especially, so it seems, in the realm of ecomonics.
*When this piece was finished Wikipedia listed Dunham's birth date as October 25, 1922. This date has since has been revised to October 26th. This does not alter the fact that Dunham was born in the 22nd year of the 20th century and lived 4488 weeks.
Indeed, I do not believe it was an accident that Dunham worked for many years within the U.S. financial system-she was a VP of Hawaii’s second largest bank*-and that her grandson won office when America and the world are going through one of the worst financial crisis and recessions in history.

As the root cause of the crisis was a corrupt government “spread the wealth” homeownership program created by the the Clinton and Carter administrations and supported by her grandson; a program that misdirected and misregulated mortgage and lending institutions to create an artificial home construction boom that went bust; a boom based on lies and risky loans to low income people-that spread cancer like throughout the system to include more affluent borrowers with bad credit amounting to trillions. Indeed, Dunham’s death could very well signal a coming day of reckoning for Democrats: a political and economic judgment on Obama, his party and the New Deal/Great Society big government left struck down by the lightening blast of a worsening economy; an economy defying Obama’s obsolete pump priming measures of running up huge deficits, redistributing wealth and spending billions more to fix a crisis that was largely government caused.
As Obama’s carefully staged presidential campaign was based on distortions, mendacity, deceit and lies; as symbols, style and stirring rhetoric triumphed over substance, experience and ideas; as he faked his way to the White House riding on the back of a false public image: the image of a saintly heroic reformer and revolutionary savior, a man who would unify America, clean up Washington, save the planet and inaugurate the new order of the ages, the truth of his shortcomings and unfitness to lead will eventually overtake him, as it did Jimmy Carter, and mire his presidency. It seems like the post-Watergate era all over again when Democrats convinced themselves that a long reign of political rule was at hand until Carter spoiled their hopeful plans and the great Ronald Reagan appeared.
Is it any wonder that the good Lord ended the life of Madelyn Dunham when He did and didn't allow her to live another day or deep into Obama's presidency? It would have been too cruel to let her survive for any great length of time as it would have added to the burden of her terrible suffering the heartache of seeing her grandson fail.
APPENDIX I: SIGNS OF A ONE TERM PRESIDENCY
Like the August born one term President, Herbert Hoover Barack Obama followed a July born President into the White House.
NOTE: Barack Obama was born on August 4th and Hoover on August 10th. Calvin Coolidge was born on July 4th and George Bush July 6th.
Like the August born one term President, Lyndon Johnson Obama beat a conservative senior U.S. senator from Arizona for the presidency.
NOTE: LBJ's birthday was on August 27th.
Like the one term President, George H. W. Bush Obama beat an opponent who was born during the Great Depression and whose running mate was born on the 11th day of February.
NOTE: Michael Dukakis was born in 1933 and John McCain in 1936. Both Lloyd Bentsen and Sarah Palin, Dukakis’ and McCain’s running mates, celebrated their birthdays on February 11th.
As Barack Obama is President 44 he is the 4th President in U.S. history with a doublet presidency number. The other three: Polk (11), Cleveland (22) and Truman (33) were one term Presidents and Democrats like Obama.
NOTE: Cleveland was a one term President twice as he was also President 24; and Truman completed FDR’s fourth term before winning election in 1948.
APPENDIX II: OBAMA AND JIMMY CARTER
The analogies between Obama and Jimmy Carter-a one term President-are manifold:
Both men served in a state legislature; both served briefly in high profile office, Carter as Governor of Georgia for four years and Obama as U.S. Senator for the same length of time. As presidential candidates both men were criticized for having thin resumes, little experience and few or no real accomplishments to qualify them for office. Moreover, as candidates both men were fresh faces, and "change" the central message of their campaigns was ridiculed by their opponents as empty, meaningless rhetoric.
Obama like Carter has come to the presidency after eight years of Republicans ruling the White House; Obama like Carter has inherited a recession from his predecessor and won an outright Democratic majority in Congress; Obama like Carter is untainted by an unpopular war and like Carter he has promised to always be truthful and never lie. Vowing to run an open, ethical, transparent administration Obama like Carter said he’d be a new kind of President transcending traditional party politics and business as usual in Washington; like Carter Obama vows to return morality to foreign policy and stress diplomacy in dealing with foes. And most importantly, like Carter Obama pledges to repair our nation’s damaged image and make us respected and loved again by the world.
I dare say that the appeasement mentality Carter showed in dealing with the Soviet Union, when he declared that we had overcome "our inordinate fear of Communism," we can expect from Obama in his dealings with Iran and other adversaries-he apparently has made a start in this direction by dropping the words "War on Islamic Terror" from official use because of its "offensiveness" to Molsems. As Carter tried to unravel the Cold War Obama, so it seems, is now unraveling his predecessor's War on Terror as he believes that it was Bush's inordinate fear of terrorism that drove us into Iraq and caused so much ill will, aggravating anti-American feelings across the Moslem world.
With good reason one pundit called Obama Jimmy Carter's "carbon copy" as Obama like Carter believes that underlying our conflict with Iran and other adversaries are misunderstanderings, legitament grievances and injustices commited by our country that can be resolved through diplomacy or by apologizing for our sins.
It has been said that Democrats are good at electing ignorant and inexperienced Presidents, men of poor judgment and ability unequal to the responsibilities and demands of the job and unfit to command our armed forces in wartime and peace. As Obama is the Democrats’ latest novice and blunderer his inadequacies like Carter’s will badly trip him up, ruin his presidency and imperil the nation paving the way for a conservative resurgence by 2012.
APPENDIX lll: THE HARDING AND KENNEDY TAX CUTS
It is important to note that Madelyn Dunham birth also indictaed the path Obama should have taken to stimulate an economic recovery. For Dunham, as mentioned above, was born 600 days into the Harding adminstration. This was a time of economic recession with double digit unemployment that Harding fixed by massively cutting taxes on the wealthiest Americans. Moreover, as Obama was born 28 weeks into the Kennedy administration Kennedy proposed tax cuts to stimulate a sluggish economy. These cuts were carried out under LBJ and it sent the economy soaring.
It could very well be that Obamanomics will be the last failed US experiment in Keynesian, demand side prime pumping stimulus spending.
NOTES:
1. For the entire United States Dunham’s death straddles the dates November 2nd and 3rd. This is because she died between the hours of 11 PM and 12 AM November 2nd Hawaii time which was November 3rd everywhere on the continent. Indeed, it was 8 AM EST (3 AM Hawaii time) when Obama learned about the death. Amazingly, November 2, 2008 was the 88th anniversary of Warren Harding’s electoral victory over Cox and Franklin Roosevelt. Harding’s victory was also the day of his 55th birthday.
2. Harding died August 2, 1923. Obama was born August 3, 1961.
3. From Dunham’s birth on 10-25-1922 to her death on 11-02-2008=31,420 days or 4488 weeks.
