Five days before Obama took office, when Bush delivered his wise and moving farewell address focusing on the war and national security, flight 1549 safely crashed into the Hudson River (downstate New York) with no injuries to passenger or crew. Aboard the plane was John Howell, brother of a 9/11 victim (see: GEORGE BUSH, THE HUDSON RIVER MIRACLE AND HIS 9/11 PRESIDENCY )
28 days later, in the era of the new 44th President, flight 1304 crashes to its doom in upstate New York killing its crew and 44 passengers. Aboard the ill starred flight was Beverly Eckart who joined her husband Sean in heaven.Sean died on September 11, 2001 a victim of al-Qaida terror. Mrs. Eckart, great American, co-chairperson of the Voices of 9/11 (a lobbying group that forced Congress to reform the US intelligence system), was traveling to a high school ceremony to celebrate her husband's 58th birthday.The celebration was to be held at a High School in Clearance, New York the town where ironically 3407 went down. Beverly Eckart and her husband first met at this school. A sad and touching story, brings tears to my eyes.
In the space of 28 days we were given signs of the age that just passed-with a President who focused like a lasar beam on national security and kept us safe for seven years-and the tragic age that is now upon us with an appeasing, placating, soft-on terror President, Neville Chamberlain's avatar Munich bound to Tehran, Moscow, Caracus and Havana. God help us all, Conservative, Liberal, Republican, Democrat. God help us all.
