For years I've been predicting a return of the counterculture sixties, of mass protests and possibly violence as a final push to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and bring down our free market democracy. Now if my hunch is right and this is to happen it will be under Barack Hussein Obama our first 1960s born President, and the most radically left in our history.
Well last nine days ago we may have received a sign of things to come when just 85 days into Obama's young presidency Kent State, for the first time since the shooting of students protesting the Vietnam War in 1970, erupted into violence with SWAT teams shooting pellets to control the rioting crowd. This time however the students weren't protesting war or any political issue. Instead, it was a block party of intoxicated students gone ballistic. But still, the coincidence of this occurring with Obama as President, and with San Francisco's Nancy Polosi our 60th House Speaker, may symbolically foreshadow a resurgence of violent 1960s type protests over the war, or the economy, or whatever in the dark and terrible days ahead.
