If there is one political pledge that Obama is intent on keeping it is the capturing or killing of Osama bin Ladin and defeat of the Taliban. However, this commitment is not driven so much by Obama's national security concerns to keep America safe from terror as it is to succeed where George Bush and D*ck Cheney failed, i.e., to best his predecessor in the War on Terror (see). In other words, Bush Derangement Syndrome and fear of losing the War on Terror is what's keeping our troops in Afghanistan (see TWO VIETNAMS FOR ONE).
