Yesterday's terrible F-16 crash in Israel which took the life of Captain Asaf Ramon, eldest son of Israeli Air Force pilot Ilan Ramon-who died aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia and participated in the attack on Saddam's Osiraq nuclear site-is a warning sign to Israel about its planned attack on Iran's nuclear facilities. It is a warning of deadly consequences for Israel and the Middle East if the IAF goes through with its plans. This is a reversal of my previous hawkish position which was based on a somewhat faulty interpretation of the Columbia disaster and my animus toward fascist Iran*. Asaf Ramon's death is a game changer for me; it has clarified much that was hidden; it is an additional piece to the puzzle in the coming violent end of the mullah regime prefigured by Columbia's demise and Ilan Ramon's death. Asaf's death was not a mere accident; it was, like his father's death-over the town of Palestine, Texas-an Act of Providence. A young life of great promise was sacrificed yesterday for the greater good of Israel, the people of Iran and the Middle East. I will have more to say about this tragedy in a reinterpretation of my work on the Columbia disaster (see featured posts). May God grant Asaf Ramon a speedy journey to Heaven and bring solace to his family, friends and people.
* My position was that a conventional Osiraq like strike against Iran's nuclear sites would be too risky; that Israel would have to cripple the regime along with destroying those sites.
