John Kennedy and Nikita Khrushchev meeting in Vienna
The Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962-the most dangerous two weeks in history-started on October 15th with the discovery of Russian nuclear missiles in Cuba and lasted until October 28th when a courageous John Kennedy faced down Nikita Khrushchev and forced him to remove the missiles.
Four days into the 46th anniversary of the 13 day Cuban Missile Crisis* Joe Biden, at a Seattle fundraiser, made the following prediction about an international crisis that would inevitably occur to test Barack Obama once he was president. Biden said:
"Mark my words," warned Biden. "It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here, if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're going to have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy. I promise you it will occur. As a student of history and having served with seven presidents, I guarantee you it's going happen. I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate, including THE MIDDLE EAST AND RUSSIA AS POSSIBILITIES."
* The crisis ran from October 15, 1962 to October 28th. Biden made his prediction on October 19, 2008.
Well, Biden was right; the test is here gathering force originating from an illicit nuclear alliance between the Middle Eastern nation Iran and Vladimir Putin's resurgent Russia.
In 1962 Nikita Khrushchev recklessly moved nuclear missiles, technicians and troops into Cuba and nearly plunged the superpowers into a deadly nuclear war. In the 21st century Vladimir Putin has recklessly allowed Russian nuclear scientists and technicians into Iran to assist its terrorist regime in developing deliverable nuclear warheads. This secret nuclear alliance which grossly violates the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty makes nonsense of Obama's policy of accommodation and appeasement for resetting US-Russian relations. If ever a policy was disconnected from reality it is this. Russia and Iran are the implacable enemies of America and the West and the sooner we wreck this alliance by toppling the mullahs with a regime destroying naval blockade the better off we will be.
Postscript: Biden, RFK and Obama
One of the more fascinating aspects of the fatal Obama-JFK connection-which I'll be writing about in my forthcoming work: Barack Obama and the "Curse" of the Kennedys-is that Joe Biden was born on the day of Bobby Kennedy's 17th birthday*. RFK was a key advisor to his brother during the Cuban Missile Crisis and wrote a book on the subject called: 13 Days in October.
*RFK was born November 20, 1925, Biden November 20, 1942.
