OBAMA RIGHTLY NIXES BERLIN WALL EVENT

Ronald Reagan speaking in front of the Brandenburg Gate at the Berlin Wall

Obama's decision not to attend November 9th festivities in Berlin for the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall was the right one made for the wrong reasons (see). As Obama gave his November 11th trip to China as his excuse for not going truth is he's not worthy enough and presidential enough to attend this occassion. Would it be proper for an anti-Reagan leftist who believes in peace through weakness and appeasement to represent our county at the celebration of a great world event made possible by the opposite policies? It was unremitting confrontation and "peace through strength" that brought down the Wall, reunified Germany and freed Eastern Europe from Sovist rule. There's no place for Obama at this event as his presence would be an embarrassment. Indeed, if Obama was President in the 1980s the world would be living a different history today. For Gorbachev would have seduced Obama at Reykjavik with offers to cut strategic nuclear arms and the Berlin Wall would still be standing with Poland, Hungry and Eastern Europe divided from the West under Soviet rule.

As it was Reagan's heroic virtues, confrontational policies, militray buildup and walk out at Reykjavik which changed the course of history and liberated millions from tyranny the Berlin Wall festivities is no place for the cowardly, weak, groveling Obama whose incompetent bungling leadership is benefiting Russian imperialism and hurting the cause of freedom around the world.

Postscript I: Flagless in Berlin

In July of last year when Obama was in Berlin addressing a crowd of 200,000-without sharing the stage with a US flag (see)-he was celebrating himself as a great enlightened transnational "world citizen" who as president would transcend the petty Cold War concerns of a Ronald Reagan, of knocking down a single wall dividing a city, and work to knock down all walls and barriers separating nations and peoples.

Could this be the reason for Obama missing the Berlin Wall festivities? While he certainly doesn't belong there does he nevertheless see it as something beneath him? Something falling far short of his lofty, post-nation state, new age ideals of an undivided world united in peace? Perhaps in part. But the main reason, I believe, for the canceling of his plans is as follows:

Postscript II: Why did Obama Cancel his Trip to Berlin?

Most likely to avoid the humiliation of having his failed foreign policy compared to Ronald Reagan's victorious record and courageous world view. All week long Hannity, Rush, Levin and Beck, and every right wing columnist and blogger on the internet, would be measuring Obama the man, his diplomatic disasters and unearned Nobel Prize against Ronald Reagan's epic achievement of ending the East-West conflict and bringing down the Soviet state-which Obama unhistorically denies giving equal credit to Western Europe and other presidents*. Getting blasted for not going to Berlin is the lesser of two evils as our weak, groveling fool of a president lives in fear of Reagan and his legacy of PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH.

*After Reagan walked out of the Reykjavik Summit Gorbachev said that it forced him to realize "that a new world was possible."  It was this same Gorbachev who said that Reagan's military buildup (opposed by Obama) was a decisive factor "in spending the Soviet Union into bankrutcy." In an interview on the History Channel in 2002  Gorbachev again credited Reagan with ending the Cold War by saying: "Without Ronald Reagan I do not know what would have happned." Even the anti-Reagan Ted Kennedy was man enough to admit that "Ronald Reagan won the Cold War."

Postscript III: What if Obama was President in 1941, 1961 or 1981, etc.?

Replace FDR with Barack Obama and there would not have been a Manhattan Project to build the atomic bomb; and following the catastrophe of World War II there would have been an equally terrible and devastating war with the Soviet Union and its Communist allies.

Replace Harry Truman with Barack Obama and Hiroshima and Nagasaki would not have been nuked; and America would have been forced to invade Japan adding one million bodies to 60 million dead-including the slaughter of 300,000 POWs held in Japanese prison camps*.

*The Japanese threatened to kill all POWS if their country was invaded. By itself this would have exceeded the death toll of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings.

Replace JFK with Barack Obama and Communism would have totally engulfed Indochina with millions more dying from starvation, disease and war than were killed in the aftermath of the Vietnam War*. And US cities would be under the threat of nuclear attack from Communist Cuba.

*North Vietnam lost one million soldiers in its war with the US. A grealty weakned North Vietnamese army saved Indochina from Ho Chi Minh's regional ambitions.

Replace Ronald Reagan with Barack Obama and Gorbachev, as I said above, would have triumphed at Reykjavik; and the Evil Empire would still be standing more threatening and menacing than ever.
Replace George H. W. Bush with Barack Obama and Saddam Hussein would have annexed Kuwait, developed nuclear weapons* then invaded and annexed Saudi Arabia threatening its oil fields with nuclear destruction if anyone dared to stop him.

*After the Gulf War US weapons inspector David Kay uncovered a clandestine nuclear weapons program in Iraq.

As Obama's reckless doctrine of apology, appeasement and abasement turns into the worst diplomatic fiasco since Chamberlain at Munich we can only guess at the horrors of death and destruction he is unleashing upon the world.
