With more and more Americans coming to the conclusion reached by Nicolas Sarkozy* that Obama has serious reality problems, that he is a gutless, unrealistic, dangerous appeaser like Neville Chamberlain and Jimmy Carter it was time for him to change that perecption, to make himself over, to prove his critics wrong. It was time to show America and the world a new Obama, a tough Obama, a strong, courageous realistic Obama; Obama would use the occasion of receiving the Nobel Prize to change world perceptions with a single speech and a bold return to the mainstream. For the Great Teleprompticator believes that words are deeds; that rhetoric is almost everything; and that after his speech he has joined the ranks of the great democratic war leaders of history: Lincoln, Wilson, FDR, Truman, Churchill-whose bust Obama banned from the White House. Obama is now among the great ones, the immortals, men who weren't pacifists; who believed that there are just and necessary wars; that there's no peace without strength in this world; and that in war there's no substitute for victory. And to think I believed that Obama is headed for a Waterloo of many historic defeats. What a fool I've been. What a fool.
*Coming close to mocking Obama Sarkozy, at the UN last September, said of the US leader's naive and foolish approach to foreign affairs and nuclear disarmament: "We live in a real world not a virtual world.." Those who want to believe that Obama has been "mugged by reality" that the man who seems intent on wrecking the US economy is moving in a neo-con direction will be sadly disappointed when the next crisis comes.
