In Obama's pre-9/11 brain these structures are still standing, or resurrected from the grave.
The presidency of Barack Obama is on a rendezvous with destiny; a terrible destiny; a destiny that's an economic, national security and foreign policy catastrophe; and predictably in last night's speech Obama refused to save himself and change his disastrous course-which didn't surprise me at all as I believe that I've divined from a multitude of signs, starting with his anointing as the "new JFK," Obama's certain tragic fate (see).
Indeed, adding to the many signs of coming woe to Obama and the nation was last night's angry, arrogant, condescending, speech; the speech of an empty, petty, senseless man, the poorest of God's creatures ever to be president, with a grandiose self-image of a larger than life hero destined for historical greatness*.
*After the speech Chris Matthews' famous tingle up his leg was replaced by something greater: "an epiphany of national leadership." So bad is Matthews need for a great effective charismatic leftist leader that he desperately wants to believe Obama's childish self-delusions and messianic fantasies.
Little change in substance unchanged in agenda the message of the speech was painfully clear: government is the plan for fixing everything; it's the answer whether we like it or not; believe it or not, whether it's ever succeeded or not; and if by the end of his term Obama crashes and burns and enters the president's hall of shame it won't be his fault-everyone else will be blamed-as he had the right views and his intentions were good-which would make him a candidate for liberal sainthood.
From healthcare to the economy, from education to energy more government control and intervention is coming to save us. Obama will pursue his agenda to the bitter end regardless of its impact on America, his presidency, his party and the world. Now who out there will dispute with me that Obama's middle name is a sign of his intransigency and self-destructive fate (see)?
ON NATIONAL SECURITY
Obama is dangerously weak on national security having made a series of disastrous decisions that's put our security in perilous jeopardy. And not only was this weakness mirrored in his speech, in the little time he spent on Islamic terror*, but in the emblematic timing of its delivery. For just as critics like D*ck Cheney rightly say that Obama has regressed into a pre-9/11 mentality-the 9/10 days of treating terrorists as defendants and not enemy combatants-amazingly, and perhaps meaningfully as an omen of things to come, Obama took the stage last night giving the customary thank yous at 9:10 and started his speech just seconds into 9:11. A fitting way to start a speech that ignored the brave heroes of Ft. Hood who risked life and limb bringing down the murdering lethal Nidal Hasan.
*Of the speeches 7120 words only 502 were devoted to national security and the War on Terror. That's a tad over 7% of the speech.
