U.S. Central Commander General David Petraeus is escorted out of the Dirksen Senate Office Building after collapsing while defending Obama's timetable for withdrawing US forces from Afghanistan.
In wake of military and political setbacks in Afghanistan, with a resurgent and emboldened Taliban fighting NATO forces to a draw and the corrupt Karzai government seemingly ready to surrender, the physically fit, fit to command, David Patraeus while being questioned last Tuesday at a Senate hearing* by Vietnam war hero John McCain (about Obama's timetable for withdrawal) collapsed in his seat from exhaustion due to dehydration or jetlag.
*Petraeus was before the Senate Armed Services Committee.
Just prior to Patraeus’ collapse this is what McCain said to him: "..... whether we're actually going to stay [in Afghanistan] or not; whether we're going to do what's necessary to succeed instead of setting an arbitrary timeline [stop]." The questioning ends abruptly on the word "timeline" as Patraeus, our greatest living general, famous and rightly praised for his successful counterinsurgency strategies in Iraq, becomes lightheaded and faints. This was an ominous sign of collapse for Obama’s policies in Afghanistan and perhaps Iraq as well.
OBAMA'S 511TH DAY
Indeed, June 15th, when Patraeus collapsed in the Senate, was the 511th day of the Obama presidency, and a terribly inauspicious day at that. This was the day Obama gave his feeble, ineffective and much criticized speech on the BP Gulf spill disaster, a crisis where he miserably failed the test of leadership, crisis management and executive decision making-making nonsense of Joe Biden's campaign portrayal as a leader with “steel in his spine” equal to any crisis and challenge foreign or domestic.
Now amazingly and perhaps providentially as a sign of things to come the number 511 is highly significant for national security and defense policy and the war on terror in Afghanistan. I say this because 511 is a factor of the five digit number 18396 (36x) and 19418 (38x) giving us the ominous dates of the First Anglo-Afghan War (1839*) and Japan’s sneak attack on Pearl Harbor (1941) that killed thousands of American servicemen and plunged us into World War II.
*Oddly, the number 1839 was the exact number of days that the former pro-US President of Krygyzstan, Kurmanbek Bakiyev, was in office before being ousted in a Russian backed coup. Kyrgyzstan, now in a state of ethnic chaos racked with violence and slaughter, is home to a US military base at Manus, a strategically important transit point for supplying US and NATO forces in Afghanistan (
see).
Moreover, the significant and important word "TIMELINE," the last word spoken by McCain to Patraeus before he grew faint, has a numeric value of 42*. Amazingly, 42, like the number 511, is a factor of the five digit number 18396 (438x) the year of the first of three Anglo-Afghan wars*, hence:
TIMELINE
29453955=42 (see notes)
*The British fought three wars in Afghanistan: two in the 19th century (1839-1842, 1880-1882 and one beginning and ending in 1919).
Furthermore, just as the number 511 gave us the year 1941, the year of Pearl Harbor, so does 42 generate a five digit number encoded with the ominous numbers 911 or 9/11 denoting the month and day of al Qaida's massive and murderous sneak attack on our shores, hence:
42x455=19110
Putting together the above signs this is what we have:
The numbers 511 and 42 generating the significant year 1839: the first year of the first of three Anglo-Afghan Wars; the significant year 1941: the terrible year when the Japanese launched their sneak attack on Pearl Harbor; and the number 911 denoting al Qaida’s massive terrorist attack of nine years ago. Now when we add John McCain to this, one of two Vietnam vets* on the 29 member Senate Armed Services Committee, questioning by “coincidence” David Patraeus on the wisdom of withdrawing from Afghanistan on a date certain when he collapsed, what we have are portents warning of the devastating consequences to Afghanistan, the region and US national security if our hapless and foolhardy president moves ahead with plans to retreat from Afghanistan before there‘s a sufficient degree of political and military stability.
*James Webb was the other.
Like the horrific holocaust that engulfed South East Asia in the aftermath of our deserting South Vietnam Afghanistan and Pakistan will likely be plunged into chaos and mayhem turning the region into a killing field where hundreds and thousands could die as the Taliban and al Qaida quench their thirst for vengeance, blood and power.
Moreover, the Taliban reconquering their country and slaughtering their foes will not be content with, nor be placated by, their hard fought victory as some naively believe. Filled with triumphalism over our defeat and rage for ousting them from power-and killing thousands of their comrades-the Taliban will take vengeance on America in the most deadly and perilous ways: coordinating with al Qaida it is certain they will send suicide jihadis to infiltrate our country and kill our citizens by the hundreds or thousands. Indeed, this, I believe, is what the numbers 1941 and 9/11 indicate and what the Ft. Hood massacre and the botched Times Square bombing forewarn*. If we are massively hit again after the Taliban return to power we will recall with regret the words of George Bush: “We’re fighting the enemy over there so we don’t have to fight him over here.”
*Nidal Hassan was sent to Ft. Hood in transit to Afghanistan (the date of his shooting was 5-11-2009. Faisal Shahzad was trained by the Pakistan Taliban in Waziristan.
The war in Afghanistan was from the start and is today a war of necessity for keeping our homeland safe and secure; and they’ll be hell to pay for ending it too soon-as already the announced withdrawal date of next July is backfiring by firing up the enemy with the hope of victory.
Indeed, as 1839, the first year of the first Anglo-Afghan war, is a sign that appears not just once but twice, it signifies, I believe, the necessity of returning to Afghanistan after we prematurely leave-as the British did in 1880 and 1919.
Moreover, as the word TIMELINE with a numeric value of 42 was McCain’s last word to Patraeus as he collapsed, this number is significant in one other remarkable and portentous way: October 26, 2009 when three US military helicopters were involved in tragic accidents killing 14 Americans in Afghanistan (Obama’s worst day of the war) it was the 42nd anniversary of John McCain’s fatal bombing run over North Vietnam-when he was shot down and taken prisoner in a horrific ordeal he endured for five and a half years. It was also Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s 62nd birthday-she was born on the very day in 1947 when Great Britain withdraw its forces from Iraq point to our withdrawal from that country while she's still in office. As the hapless and luckless President Obama plans to end the wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan by next year it is likely he will suffer the fate of two Vietnams and go down in history as a second LBJ squared (
see).
There are no good options for Obama in Afghanistan. He is damned if he stays and damned if he leaves. If he chooses to stay fighting granting Gen. McCrystal more troops for his surge (he requested up to 80,000 and was given only 30,000) it might cause a revolt on the far Left and possibly a primary challenge from an anti-war candidate in 2012 who will either defeat him or weaken him as Ted Kennedy weakened Jimmy Carter in 1980. If Obama leaves Afghanistan prematurely starting next July the chaos and killing that will engulf the country and region, with the Taliban and al Qaida returning to power threatening our nation with new 9/11s, will completely destroy his credibility as Commander in Chief. While the war weary American people want an end to the Afghan War what they don’t want to see is a restoration of Taliban rule.

Postscript I: Obama’s Worst Day In Afghanistan
On October 26, 2009 when three US helicopters were involved in fatal accidents killing 14 Americans it was a warning to Obama that Fate was at work for his fortunes in Afghanistan and that the plan which he would choose to implement would crash and burn and backfire against him and the Democrats. Indeed, as Obama announced that policy 36 days later on December 1st this number 36 when multiplied by 511, as we have seen above, gives us the ominous number 18396 indicating the first year of three Anglo-Afghan wars. Moreover, just as the number 42 gave us the numbers 19110 warning of the perils to our national security if the Taliban return to power 36 when multiplied by 531 gives us as well the frightening sign of 9/11, hence:
36x531=19116
Postscript II: The Number 888
The number of days separating Patraeus' collapse on June 15th and the start of the Afghan War, (Operation Enduring Freedom) are 3173, hence:
October 7, 2001 to June 15, 2010=3173 days.
Now what is ominously significant about this number of days is that they translate into exactly 8 years, 8 months and 8 days of calendar time giving us the triplet number 888. Now where did we see this number before in a military event where the US suffered a significant lose and geopolitical setback? On August 8*, 2008 or 08-08-08 when the Russians invaded democratic, pro-American Georgia.
*Oddly it was on August 8, 1919 that Great Britain signed an armistice with Afghanistan bringing to an end their last war in that country until their involvement in Operation Enduring Freedom.
This invasion occurred on the second anniversary of anti-war candidate Ned Lamont’s victory over Joe Lieberman which prefigured the triumph of the anti-war Democrats in November on David Patraeus’s 53rd birthday*. This heralded the coming era of appeasement, weakness and retreat that we are now perilously in led by the clueless, incompetent unfortunate blunderer in the White House.
*Patraeus was born November 7, 1953. The 2006 elections were held on November 7th the 89th anniversary of the communist revolution in Russia. Like the Democrats in 2006 Lenin and the Bolsheviks in 1917 used the promise of ending an unpopular war to win power.
Postscript III: Signs of 1979
The number of days separating Obama’s announcement of his new counterinsurgency strategy in Afghanistan-where he granted McCrystal 30,000 troops of the up to 80,000 requested-and Patraeus’s collapse before the Senate Armed Services Committee while defending his bosses policies, were 196*. Interestingly, 196 is a factor of the five digit number 19796 (101X) which gives us the third shocking year of Jimmy Carter’s failed presidency. This was the year when the Islamonazi mullahs seized control of Iran and the hostage crisis began (9 months later), Saddam Hussein became dictator of Iraq and the Soviets invaded Afghanistan. Will 2011, Obama’s third year in office, be Jimmy Carter redux? Will it be 1979 all over again or worse with the Middle East going up in flames? It certainly looks that way.
*December 1, 2009 (Obama announces his Afghanistan policy) to June 15, 2010 (Patraeus‘s collapse) = 196 days.
