THE MCCHRYSTAL CRISIS (WITH A NEW POSTSCRIPT ON OUR UNFIT COMMANDER IN CHIEF)

The warrior general speaking with the gutless one who lacks the commitment and resolve in Afghanistan that George Bush had in turning defeat around in Iraq

The McChrystal Crisis is symptomatic of having a rank amateur and weakling implementing defeatist policies of engagement and withdrawal in Afghanistan. The justified contempt that McChrystal and staff feel for this administration and its gutless, 1960s born, politically correct leftist leader is undoubtedly shared by most of our fighting men and women in uniform. Coming just a week after Patraeus's fainting spell in the Senate the Rolling Stone article (a 1960s anti-war mag*) signals catastrophe ahead for our forces in Afghanistan and for US security and defense policy. No doubt about it the surge of 30,000 troops (short 50,000 of what McChrystal called for) is inadequate for victory. Get used to it my friends Afghanistan is Persian** for Vietnam, Barack Obama's Vietnam.

*Rolling Stone was launched as a counterculture magizine in 1967 during growing opposition to the Vietnam War.

**Persian is the most commonly spoken language in Afghanistan

Postscript: Our Non-Commander in Chief

General McChrystal and the Rolling Stone article aren't the real problem. The real problem is the confusion up and down the chain of command in Afghanistan, and within the administration, caused by a man who's unfit to command; who's not a warrior, who's not a real man, who's not a mature chief executive with the judgment, instincts and guts to effectively lead. The most unpresidential war time leader in US history is losing the war in Afghanistan and preparing the way for our national humiliation: the return of Taliban rule to Afghansitan.
