My reply is as follows:
So the Moslems that invaded Egypt weren't predators looking to expand their wealth, power and empire? Greed for booty, land and women, materialistic gain, had nothing to do with the invasion? Is that what you want us to believe Left Turn as if the invading Moslems were an army of angels driven by compassion for the poor suffering Copts (who resented Byzantine rule)? In other words, are you saying that the Moslems were intent on liberating the Copts from Byzintine oppression and replacing it with a better, fairer more just system of government? And glad to be free from the Byzantines the Copts welcomed the invading Moslem hordes as conquering heroes? Perhaps you'd like us to believe that the Copts were so impressed with their Moslem conquerors and the sacrifices they made on their behalf in freeing them from Byzantine rule that most, as Deepak Chopra says, converted voluntarily to Islam recognizing it to be a superior faith "offering closeness to God*?" And that explains the subsequent Islamization of Egypt?
This is revisionist bull. Political correctness on hallucinogens on par with Karen Armstrong likening Mohammed to the pacifist Hindu polytheist Mahatma Gandhi; and Deepak Chopra claiming that he was spiritually illuminated with God's eternal light: "like Buddha and Christ in a state of divine consciousness." The facts tell a different tale. A tale about self-serving savage Moslem warlords pillaging and plundering Egypt and North Africa in the name of their war God and militant "Prophet of Peace." A terrible tale of a Coptic speaking, Christ-believing populace stubbornly resisting Islam and Arabic culture until their Moslem rulers lost patience with them and launched a systematic campaign of persecution, discrimination, harsh taxation and forced conversions that survives in part to this day. Indeed, Egypt's Islamic rulers brought in Moslem immigrants from Arabia to increase the Moslem population and create an Arab anti-Coptic culture; they denied government service to Copts and disallowed the inheriting of wealth from each other-only a Copt convert to Islam could inherit a relative's estate. Many Copt children were kidnapped and brought up in Moslem households; and many beautiful Copt women were abducted and turned into sexual slaves. The conversion of Copts to Islam was not out of conviction or free will. Centuries of economic persecution, coercion and duress forced Copts to adopt Islam until in the 12th century they became an oppressed minority in a larger Arab/Moslem state. In fact, in the 8th and 9th centuries Moslem oppression of Copts became so tyrannically brutal that it inspired two armed Copt revolts that were quickly put down with devastating consequences to the entire Copt community. Contrast the historical truth of Islamic imperialism to Deepak Chopra's laughable falsehood "that shortly after Mohammed's death Islam spread like wildfire, by faith not military force*." Liar, liar pants on fire. The sword is the symbol of Islam, and by the sword this religion shall be tamed or perish.
