Governor Rick Perry. No Bush he.
I've been saying from that start of his presidency that it is Obama's destiny to fail and be a one term catastrophe. That his transformational ambitions were un-American fantasies. That he lacked the judgement, instincts, character and maturity to be a compelling leader and succeed at the world's hardest job. I also said that it was his fate to shatter the political Left and bring down the house that Roosevelt built discrediting the New Deal model for economic recovery and governance.
Indeed, the disaster of Obama's first two years is now turning into a political tragedy reminding us of Herbert Hoover, LBJ and Jimmy Carter. What's past is prelude of worse to come as the nation's mood and future outlook grow more hopeless and glum. As I said before: By the end of his first year the bloom came off Obama's rose. At the 2010 election landslide the rose pedals withered and died. Now all that remains is the thorny stem to tear Obama's flesh and bleed him to death as he heads toward defeat in 2012. By next summer's end most Americans will be saying, ANYONE BUT OBAMA! IT'S TIME FOR CHANGE! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! Whoever wins the GOP race will be the 45th President of the United States.
Who that candidate will be I can't say. But in a predictive piece posted today Kevin McCullough makes a compelling case for Rick Perry (see). If Perry throws his hat into the race and becomes the Republican nominee the worst thing the smear mongering Obama machine could say about him is: REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED THE LAST TIME A REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR OF TEXAS WAS PRESIDENT. But the case that a President Perry would be Dubya's third term won't fly with most voters. Not only do the Bushes viscerally hate Rick Perry-they backed Senator Hutchison in the 2010 Texas primaries*-but Perry is a proven fiscal, small government, states rights, individual liberty Conservative; while Bush was an out of control, big government, deficit exploding spender, whose irresponsible policies have been exacerbated by Obama. Not only would a Perry campaign run against Obama's reckless, bankrupting deficits, but Bush's spending record as well. In a word, a President Perry would redeem the sins of Bush and go a long way to making America strong, prosperous, solvent again, i.e, just like the booming, jobs creating Lone Star State. I'm not endorsing Perry for President. I have no favorites as yet; but the more I learn about this gun carrying, Bible believing, farm raised man the better he looks as our next Commander-in-Chief. What do you think?
*To show their displeasure with Perry Dubya, his dad, Jim Baker, D*ck Cheney and Karl Rove backed Hutchison for the party's Texas flag.
Postscript: MSM's Bushwhacking of Rick Perry (corrected and slightly revised).
Already MSM is at it seeing another George Bush in Rick Perry. Writing for ABC's The Note Michael Falcone and Amy Walters said,
"As a nominee for the party, however, Perry's got more serious liabilities [than Bachmann]. His Tea Party rhetoric and Texas swagger can turn off independent swing voters. And, if you close your eyes and listen to him speak, you'd swear it was George W. Bush. His accent, cadence and pronunciations are almost identical (see)."
I don't know about you but when I shut my eyes I don't hear a likeness at all. Perry sounds far more distinctively and rurally southern than Bush. Falcone and Walters are obviously Bushwhacking Perry and making him appear unelectable because he's a Texas Republican Governor like Bush. If Perry chooses to run we'll be hearing a lot more of this nonsense as the Bush Derangement Syndrome will kick into high gear.
