The Great Depressor Friday inaugurating Wreckovery Summer II after announcing grim economic news.
Early on in this luckless, ill-starred administration I coined the name THE GREAT DEPRESSOR to describe Barack Obama and what I believed would be the depressing impact of his blundering, un-American, anti-business presidency on the nation's moral spirit and economic activity. Unfortunately for the country and its millions of unemployed Obama hasn't disappointed me. The name sadly and tragically fits the man and his predictably failing, economy wrecking presidency.
After two and a half painful years in office with only one truly good day (the killing of bin Laden) this inexperienced, incompetent amateur has shown us how negatively and destructively unique he has been. He's done this by turning economic pessimism (understandably strong on the ominous day he took office) into something far, far worse: "ECONOMIC FATALISM*" The economic morass that was called "malaise" under Jimmy Carter is now that very thing on steroids as the Obama Effect spreads poison like throughout the land taking its toll on optimism, morale, job creation and growth. In my life time I have never seen this nation with so little faith in its future greatness and confidence in its leader. According to a recent CNN poll 48% of the public (nearly one out of two Americans) are not just glum about future for themselves and and their kids, they are sinking into hopelessness and utter despair fearing that a second Great Depression is near (
see). This is Herbert Hoover all over again.

As I said before there was more optimism and hope during the FDR years of the Great Depression than we have today with Obama in charge. That's how bad the psychological mood is. During the Depression America had a richly gifted pro-American nationalist leader-senseless in economics but patriotic to the hilt-with an optimistic mentality that battled against despair and knew how to raise and sustain public morale. Compared to that larger than life man Obama is (as I've often said) a moral and mental midget struggling to be at least half as good and effective. In 1936 FDR convinced most Americans that his failing New Deal policies were working, and he retook the White House in a landslide. Now, however, most voters see Obama's new New Deal as a disaster headed toward catastrophe, and a future of suffering worse than today.
Now as this "jobless," "growless," "wreakovery" worsens and his hopes of reelection fade Obama in 2012 may shock the nation by either quiting the race (see) or replacing Joe Biden with a more appealing running mate. And the most eligible and electable Democrat to fit the bill is Hillary Clinton our Secretary of State.
Now is an Obama/Clinton ticket a dream team that the GOP and Conservatives ought fear? After all the economy boomed under Bill Clinton and millions went to work prospering as never before. Indeed, Clinton caught the wave of the information/dot com explosion and Hillary taking credit for it will try milking for all it's worth to her and Obama's advantage. "With me at Obama's side a robust recovery is assured," she will say. "We did it in the 90s and we'll do it again!"
But this isn't to be feared. On the contrary, an Obama/Clinton ticket is to be welcomed and has advantages for a GOP victory over an Obama/Biden replay. Why? Because the Republican ticket and party will hammer Hillary to death with the truth about her husband's presidency; the truth that Bill Clinton planted the seeds that caused the financial/housing collapse of 2008; the truth that Clinton's policies and laws crashed the economy Obama inherited, bitterly complains of and can't fix with his lies and stimulus tricks. An Obama/Clinton ticket would be a much needed learning experience for the nation and quicken the fall of the political left with its entitlement/welfare/social justice mentality that's ruining and bankrupting nation after nation in Europe and elsewhere.
Indeed, Bill Clinton's Financial Services Modernization Act (called the "Mother of all Deregulations" for banks and brokerage firms); and his totally insane National Homeowneship Strategy (which was responsible for 18 million unaffordable subprime loans for minorities) would become hotly debated to Obama's woe if Hillary were to run with him. OBAMA/CLINTON 2012! BRING THEM ON! IT'S A CONSERVATIVE'S DREAM.
The Democrat dream ticket for 2012 would be a learning experience for the American people linking Bill Clinton's policies to the financial/housing collapse of 2008. In other words, the public will learn that the Great Recession Obama inherited was ECONOMIC KARMA for Democrats and not undeserved.

Last October when Obama lost his presidential seal at a women's conference with Hillary speaking the next day was it a sign that Hillary as his running mate in 2012 wouldn't save his presidency?
