David Brooks, who's been smoking some powerful weed, believes that Barack Obama, the biggest and most reckless spending head of state in world history (who complained that his stimulus was too small to fix the economy) is suddenly a deficit hawk and fiscal conservative, and more sane and normal than most Republicans and all of the Tea Party. How this man is so easily fooled. If Brooks were alive in 1932 he'd probably believe that FDR was serious about slashing Hoover's runaway deficits and balancing the budget. That's how stupidly naive he is.
Weighing in on the great debate over the deficit and debt clueless RINO commentator David Brooks, giving Dems ammunition in their attacks on the GOP and Tea Party, writes:
"The Republican Party may no longer be a normal party. Over the past few years, it has been infected by a faction that is more of a psychological protest than a practical, governing alternative.The members of this movement do not accept the logic of compromise, no matter how sweet the terms. If you ask them to raise taxes by an inch in order to cut government by a foot, they will say no. If you ask them to raise taxes by an inch to cut government by a yard, they will still say no.
The members of this movement do not accept the legitimacy of scholars and intellectual authorities. A thousand impartial experts may tell them that a default on the debt would have calamitous effects, far worse than raising tax revenues a bit. But the members of this movement refuse to believe it."
David Brooks should be lecturing Obama and the Dems who have no written, specific, meaningful Paul Ryan-like plan for cutting government by so much as an inch; who threaten that unless taxes on the rich are raised by an inch they'll blow up the country and default on the debt. (And Republicans are called "terrorists?")
Obama, Geithner and the spendthrift Dems, who believe government is too small and taxes too low and want more and more control over of your life and mine, are warning that it's either their way of raising taxes on the job creating rich, or it's the highway to hell and financial Armageddon. Take your pick.
In other words, if big government isn't bigger and more expensive to run, America is lost and is worth less than scum and might as well go to pot. In short, Obama and his reckless band of power mad Dems are holding America hostage to meaningless tax hikes for cutting the deficit and debt and saving us from dread; and Brooks calls Republicans abnormal, uncompromisng, anti-intellectual schmucks? What a moron.
BTW the "practical governing alternative" offered by the GOP is less government, less taxes, less control of the economy and people's lives. Reduce, cut back and downsize and empower the individual, investor and private sector with more freedom to grow and prosper. As every true scholar, expert and intellectual authority knows that is the only way to dispell fear and pessimism, restore faith in the future and get the economy booming again. Tax less, control less, spend less, until we do that we draw closer and closer to the abyss.
