"Cantor and the Quake
The epicenter of the quake was in Eric "Mr. Tea Party" Cantor's district. Meaning that it's the TP Republican radicals who are cracking, or causing the cracks in our economy, the Union and the Constitution. It's a divine sign just how dangerous GOP Tea Partiers are."
My reply is as follows:
That the epicenter of the quake was located in Republican Majority Leader Eric Cantor's district-who was in Jerusalem at the time (an epicenter of many political storms and earthquakes)-is fascinating in that Cantor is seen by MSM and leftist bloggers as Obama's nemesis in Congress-the face of Republican/Tea Party* intransigence. Perhaps no leading Republican was portrayed by the media as more relentless in his opposition to Obama's call for tax hikes during the debt ceiling debate than Cantor. Moreover, no Republican perhaps did more to damage Obama's public standing and image.
*An independent Tea Party candidate challenged Cantor for his seat in 2010.
Obama rudely walking out on Cantor during a heated "disrespectful" exchange at the White House made him look like the rigid, close-mininded, petulant, thin-skinned, incompetent amateur that he is. It was another failed test of presidential leadership, fortitude and civility. An economic illiterate and social justice ideologue who knows squat about growing jobs and the GDP, who believes the government is undersized and spending too little despite trillions in debt, Obama couldn't rise to the occasion of Cantor's challenge on deficit and debt reduction. Rather than embarrass himself by getting into a losing argument with a superior mind Obama instead shot up from his seat and abruptly left the room, warning Cantor not to call his bluff. In short, unable to take the heat Obama fled the kitchen.
As polls show, Obama emerged from the debt ceiling battle a badly bruised and diminished
president; and Cantor's so-called "childish" "disrespectful" "racist" opposition was a major factor in hurting him. But the debt ceiling fight with Cantor and the GOP was prelude to Obama's upcoming battle over his new jobs charade (Stimulus II). Cantor and the GOP isn't finished doing damage to Obama by exposing his deceit and stupidity. Or better still, Obama isn't finished belittling and injuring himself by locking horns with the Majority Leader and his peers over tax hikes, more regulations and increased federal spending. Obama's worst days are ahead as August was the tipping point for his presidency (the point of no return)*. The cracks in his reckless and inept presidency will grow wider and deeper until collapsing into impotency and paralysis he becomes completely contemptible and unreelectable.
*Indeed, the earthquake that shook Washington and the East Coast is now being followed by Hurricane Irene close to the anniversary of Katrina. It's like I said two years ago: All catastrophes are possible in the tragic age of Barack Obama.
Postscript: The Washington Monument and the Election of 1888
As I've written elsewhere Barack Obama is the forth President in US history bearing a doublet presidency number. The other three, James Polk (11), Grover Cleveland* (22), and Harry Truman (33) were Democrats and one term presidents. Now it just so happens that the Washington Monument was opened to the public on October 9, 1888. That was 26 days before Republican presidential candidate and Civil War hero Benjamin Harrison defeated Democrat Grover Cleveland, the 22nd President.
*Cleveland was a one term President twice having been the 24th President as well.
