"You'll give your speech to Congress when I say so," says John Boehner to a weak and foolish Barack Obama.
With yesterday's slapdown by John Boehner Barack Obama-one of the least feared and respected presidents in American history-is off to an inauspicious start in trying to use the jobs issue to gain political advantage for 2012. Coming on the last day of the worst month of his presidency (with his job approval rating below 40%) Team Obama miscalculated in trying to schedule their man's jobs' speech before Congress on the night of the GOP presidential debate at the REAGAN LIBRARY. Obama who obviously was hoping to upstage the debate and steal its thunder met unexpected resistance from Boehner who more or less told him IF YOU COME WE WON'T BE THERE. This was an unprecedented blunder as it made Obama look weak and foolish further diminishing his shrinking stature and reelection chances.
What augers ultimate failure for the president's speech, (however bold, grand and new it may seem or successful in the short run) is the Reagan Library and September 8th, the new date for the speech.
Indeed, Obama who many self-deluded liberals were expecting to be the new Lincoln, FDR or JFK (or some unique form of historical greatness) is now instead widely seen, by both Right and Left, as the new Jimmy Carter-the incumbent Democrat one term president who Reagan defeated in a landslide victory that brought to an end to the era of malaise and national decline. Something similar is at hand.
Now as the pressing, urgent, purpose of the speech is the president's reelection 425 days separate September 8th from Election Day. 425 is an inauspicious number for Obama in that it's a factor of two numbers that give us the years 1976 and 1980: the years of Jimmy Carter's election and well deserved, crushing defeat, hence:

425x488=198050
Furthermore, as 1979 was Carter's third and worst year in office, and 2011 is shaping up to be Barack Obama's 1979, September 8th, the day of the jobs' speech-and the 961st day of Obama's presidency-is indicative of the year 1979 in the following way:

In sum, just as Obama's attempt to steal the limelight from the Republicans miserably failed so will his speech with all its smoke and mirrors trickery fail to rekindle public confidence in his presidency and win him reelection.
