Frank Rich: rich in falsehoods and fantasies about the death of JFK.
Apart from the supreme role Providence certainly played in the death of the charismatic, patriotic, anti-communist JFK* (see), love and adulation of the New Frontiersman was the overriding mundane factor. Indeed, Frank Rich and the America hating radical Left-going back to James Reston in the sixties-cling to the persistent, laughable, easily refuted fantasy that an undercurrent of right wing vitriol and hate, causing a toxic climate in Dallas, Texas, is what ultimately killed JFK, when in reality the opposite is the case (see). In reality, before Kennedy's death the national mood (as I vividly recall) was one of near intoxication: the American people were soaring with optimism, hope and patriotic fervor due mostly to JFK's pro-American, nationalistic, inspirational presidency. In reality, it was Kennedy's great success in Cold War politics and morale boosting, visionary leadership that ultimately did him in. In other words, it was the great love, good will, and adulation he enjoyed, deserved and basked in that tragically killed him.
*I will show in a future piece that Kennedy's death was not in vain. That it triggered a train of national events that made Ronald Reagan President and ended the Cold War.
Indeed, after Kennedy's much praised victory in the Cuban Missile Crisis, where he got the crude Nikita "we will bury America" Khrushchev to remove long range Soviet missiles from Cuba, his worldwide popularity alarmed and horrified the Kremlin, Havana and communists everywhere as he was seen as a menace to their totalitarian program. Americanism under Kennedy had dealt a sharp blow to Soviet prestige and international communism and the Reds were white with fear that he was turning the tables on their plans for world conquest. And one such paranoid and frightened communist thug was the pathetic leftist loser Lee Harvey Oswald, a trained marine marksman with an ideological sword who was hell bent on killing the evil capitalist Kennedy (to save Castro and communist Cuba) and did so singlehandedly.
The truth is this: if on November 22, 1963 an armed Lee Harvey Oswald and the Book Depository were on 5th Avenue in Liberal New York City looking down on JFK's motorcade, the day that shook the world would have happened all the same.
It is the leftist climate of anti-American hate and demonizing of the Right that morally consumes radicals like Frank Rich and causes pundits like him to write such absurd and childish stuff about Kennedy's death where the word "communism" is only mentioned once (and not in relation to Oswald). It is hilarious to read Rich saying that his adolescence ended with JFK's death when he's been suffering from an infantile mental disorder (liberalism) throughout his adult life and into old age.
