BARACK OBAMA'S NEW PATRIOTIC NATIONALISM AND HERBERT HOOVER'S BULL MOOSE PRESIDENCY

Honest Teddy Roosevelt said, "Speak softly and carry a big stick." Barack Obama believes: Softly speak lie after lie after lie and carry a toothpick.

Barack Obama after traveling the world apologizing for the greatness, wealth and might of America; after denying our historic exceptionalism, and bowing to kings, emperors and dictators practically vowing (in the spirit of universal equality) to end our days as a superpower, now is a born again patriot wanting to renew American nationalism.

Indeed, after failing to be the new Abe Lincoln (the great uniter), the new JFK (the irresistible charmer), the new FDR (the optimistic inspirer), and the new Bill Clinton (the moderate triangulator) Obama now wants to be the new Teddy Roosevelt (the patriotic, America first nationalist)? Imagine this moral weakling leading the charge up San Juan Hill, or hunting lions in the wilds of Africa, or personally making peace between Russia and Japan (Obama lacks negotiating skills)? Indeed, using Teddy Roosevelt as a model this divisive, demoralizing, declinist-this bumbling, ineffective, dissembling teleprompticator-is going to rekindle the American spirit and win reelection as a super patriot? It's completely laughable.  As Obama is a mediocre man with a destructive leftwing agenda that's done serious damage to this nation (and is sinking Western Europe) Teddy Roosevelt is his last desperate ploy to seem greater than he is, more presidential than he is, more truly and patriotically American than he is and deceive his way to a second disastrous term.

The truth is this:

                    We are a rudderless nation
                         Without purpose and aim
Adrift on a sea of growing troubles
                         Recklessly steered
                         By a drunken sailor
                         Into icebergs and storms
                         Staying the course
                         To disaster.

Four more years of this blundering, incompetent, chaos causing fool and we'll be undone. Thank God we'll have either Newt or Mitt in 2012 to save us from this man. For either one will limit the damage by making him a one term disaster.

Postscript I: Teddy Roosevelt and Bull Moose Herbert Hoover

It is hilarious to see Obama twist the facts about Teddy Roosevelt who was the leader and presidential candidate of the Progressive Bull Moose Party and not a Republican when he gave his New Nationalism speech. Even more hilarious is the fact the Herbert Hoover, father of the Great Depression, was a rootin tootin New Nationalist, a Teddy Roosevelt man, an ardent supporter of Roosevelt's progressive Bull Moose agenda which he applied in trying to fix the economic mess of the early 1930s. Hoover, ignoring his predecessor's super-successful supply side approach (cutting taxes, spending and regulations) in ending a deep recession with 11.7% unemployment, used big government tax and spend policies instead and made things progressively worse. In 1931 and 32, sounding like Obama, Hoover went on a class warfare offensive campaigning for reelection by calling on the rich capitalists (the 1%) to pay their fair share to lower the burgeoning deficit and pay for his federal stimulus programs. In June of 1932 with unemployment at around 20% Hoover signed into law the biggest, badest, meanest, most senselessly punitive tax increase on the rich in US history raising the top marginal rate from 25% to over 50%. When Obama said back in 2009 that raising taxes on the rich (the employers and producers) was unwise during a recession could it be he had Hoover in mind (see)? For by the end of fiscal year 1933 millions more Americans lost their jobs as unemployment soared to a record high of 25%.

BTW, if Teddy Roosevelt were our 31st President instead of Herbert Hoover we would have had the Great Depression all the same as he would have made the very same disastrous mistakes.

Postscript II: The Clinton And Eisenhower Eras

It is nauseating to hear this economic illiterate talk about the Clinton and Eisenhower years (he gets this stuff from Bob Reich): how despite the Clinton tax hikes of 1994 the economy soared creating millions of new jobs; and despite a top marginal rate under Ike of 90% the economy greatly prospered in the post-war years. Truth is, the Clinton administration caught the wave of the Internet Revolution, and the booming economy of the 1950s was mostly due to America rebuilding a war ravaged world-the export of US goods and services went through the roof high taxes and all and America boomed. That wasn't the case in the crisis of the early 1930s when class warfarer Herbert Hoover raised taxes on employers, producers and investors, and it's not the case today. In a very real sense Barack Obama is Herbert Hoover reborn.
