David Axelrod wasn't understating Obama's reelection difficulties when he said last fall that his boss had a "titanic struggle" ahead (see). At the time I said that Obama would lose the struggle to his Republican rival because it was too hard for him, and there was nothing of the TITAN in him. There's no Abe Lincoln in Obama, no FDR in Obama, no Harry Truman, JFK, Ronald Reagan, or wonder working messiah in Obama. And after 35 blundering months in office a disillusioned public despairing of the future wants the Great Depressor* gone. For occupying the White House is an intelligent man of little worth with a dash of charisma and charm who lacks the judgment, instincts, character and maturity for the job. A man who fooled an electorate hungry for change with soaring rhetoric and a winning smile that he was some kind of exalted being or avatar; a larger than life figure gifted beyond measure whose presidency would be a defining, epoch making, transformative moment for this country and the world. His grandiosity was breathtaking, but in practice he's been poor disillusioning many supporters including Chris Matthews who's lost the Obama thrill.
*Consumer confidence, business confidence, public morale and national spirit and hope are in the crapper because of this president and his depressing, declinst, incompetent leadership.
Oh the intoxication of Obamamania fueled to fever pitch by a worshipping liberal media who hyped their hero's virtues and hid his damning faults because they desperately wanted a savior for their leftist world view and destructive statist agenda despite its failure throughout history. Now look at him. Look how far he has fallen from the lofty expectations of his election, a man cut down to size headed toward defeat and political damnation-a fate prefigured when his grandmother died less than 48 hours before his election (see); and when his kingmaker Ted Kennedy collapsed from a LEFT-sided brain tumor at his inaugural after he botched his oath on the word FAITHFULLY (see). What ominously got off to a bad start and has since proved a disaster will now end badly, or perhaps even tragically (God forbid). Look at what's happening before our eyes
Faced with a public whose fear and distrust of the federal government is at near record highs the biggest, most reckless of big government liberals is struggling unsuccessfully to change their minds. "More government is needed to reign in the rich who caused the recession that I can't fix," cries the victim-of-everything-in-chief. "They're undertaxed and over greedy and are making you poorer as they prosper immorally." A message that's not resonating with a public who see a $15 trillion national debt and a coming cataclysmic train wreck, smashing their futures and dreams, uncaused by bankers, CEOs and speculators on Wall Street, whatever their sins and greed.
Many conservatives are looking at recent polls and gloating that "class warfare doesn't work." But that depends on whose waging the war. Class warfare worked for FDR in 1936 when he successfully railed against businessman, financial speculators, reckless bankers, and all the rich who were "united in a campaign of hate" against him to keep the Depression going and drive him from power. But Obama's no FDR; unworthy to be a shadow of his shadow he's an ineffective communicator and poor class warfare persuader who can't raise public morale or instill confidence and optimism in the present and future, or make a convincing case against the rich that they are responsible for his economic mess. As I wrote before, "there was more economic optimism during the Great Depression than there is today," and things were dismally worse then.
During the Roosevelt era most Americans believed that America's best days were still ahead and not behind them, and that was due mostly to the man at the top who believed in this country and loved it with all his heart. But today engulfed in pessimism and gloom too many believe that our nation's greatness is through, and that too is mainly due to the man at the top who hates this country and its free market system ("it has never worked," says he) and is anti-American at heart.
Obama traveling the country trying to win over hearts and minds to the leftist lie that the private sector and free enterprise are the problem reminds one of Woodrow Wilson battling with a Republican led Congress on the issue of America entering the League of Nations. Wilson desperately criss crossed the country trying to win public support for the League with his health breaking down in the end and wanting but failing to get a third term. Will Obama suffer a similar fate wearing himself out and ruining his health trying to deceive his way to a second term? This looks like a tragedy in the making.
In case you don't know Obama is the third US President to come directly from the US Senate. The other two leaders Harding and Kennedy died in office the one from a stroke, the other from an assassin's bullet*. But the most tragic sign of all was the first black president kicking off his reelection campaign on the anniversary of Martin Luther King's death.
*It is interesting to note that Obama's grandmother Madelyn Dunham was born during the Harding Administration and that she died on the anniversary of Harding's birthday. Amazingly Obama was born in the first year of JFK's presidency.
Outside certain polls that have him leading Gingrich and Romney I can't find a single positive sign pointing to Obama's reelection. George H. W. Bush (the last one term President) like Obama defeated a rival who was born during the Depression, and picked running mates whose birthday fell on February 11th*. Like the one term tragic LBJ Obama beat a Senator from Arizona for the presidency 44 years before Obama's less impressive victory (see). And who can forget Obama's own prediction to Matt Lowry that a bad economy in his third year would doom him to a one term presidency-prophetic words I believe.
*Michael Dukakis and John McCain were born in the 1930s, the only two presidential candidates of major parties born during the Great Depression. Lloyd Bentsen and Sarah Palin were born on February 11th.
Moreover, thrice Obama lost his presidential shield, once to thieves and two by "freak accident." And during the terrible month of August (the worst of Obama's presidency) the Washington Monument cracked from an earthquake that originated in Eric Cantor's congressional district-Cantor was in Jerusalem at the time, a place of trouble for Obama as his mideast policies are in shambles and the region is going up in flames.
Because Obama is anything but a titanic personality these signs I believe have predictive value. Obama is a fatally flawed and relatively mediocre man* and how his failed presidency will end is in God's good hands.
*In comparison to our greatest presidents whose mask he wears now and then. Teddy Roosevelt being his latest disguise. I love what Victor Davis Hanson said: Obama is a teenage president in search of an adult identity. Or as I have said he's the Michael Jackson of American Politics.

Postscript: Ted Kennedy And David Axlerod
Ted Kennedy was Obama's kingmaker, and anointed him the "new JFK" in January 2008. David Axlerod was the architect of Obama's victorious four year meteoric rise from the Illinois State Senate to the White House. Both share the same birthday of February 22nd the birthday of George Washington whose monument was cloed down when cracked by last summer's earthquake. Kennedy was born in 1932, Axelrod 23 years later in 1955 The earthquake took place on the 23rd day of August. 23 in the number of defeat especially for Democrats as I showed in my piece THE DEATHS OF TED KENNEDY AND JOHN MURTHA AND THE COMING DEBACLE OF NEW DEAL LIBERALISM.
