Will Ron Paul sacrifice his son's political career on the alter of a hopeless third party candidacy?
Ron Paul's Iowa victory didn't happen. Finishing a respectable third behind Romney and Santorum, after putting all his chips in the pot, the unelectable Paul's candidacy to be GOP nominee all but collapsed last night. But now that the lunatic isolationist's GOP run is obviously a quixotic quest to defeat what is he going to do?
As my readers know my predictions of Obama's inevitable defeat in November are exclusively based on a head to head contest with the GOP nominee. A Ross Perot like third party challenge from Ron Paul would certainly complicate things for the nominee and likely give the country four more years of a failed president. Mystical signs aren't needed to predict this, just common sense; but signs there are, and they are ominous. Consider the following and shudder:
Ross Perot was born in Texarkana, Texas on June 27, 1930. Ron Paul (Congressman from Texas, same initials RP) was born August 20, 1935. Both men were born in the same decade 1880 days apart, hence:
6-27-1930 to 8-20-1935= 5 years, 1 month and 24 days = 1880 days.
While 1880 gives us the year of a presidential election when the unlikley and unfortunate Republican Senator-elect from Ohio, James Garfield was elected President (he was assassinated), the number 1880 is a factor of the two five digit numbers 193640 (103x) and 199280 (106x). 1936 was the year Franklin Roosevelt was reelected to a second term despite the continuing economic depression; and 1992 was the year Ross Perot spoiled George H. W. Bush's reelection to a second term with his third party candidacy.
After fate gave us a businessman from Texas (Ross Perot, left) that ended the presidency of Texan George H. W. Bush, then gave us his Texan son that put Barack Obama in the White House will a Congressman from Texas (Ron Paul, right) now keep him there?
So what will Ron Paul do? Will he pull a Ross Perot on the GOP and Republican nominee and mounting a hopeless third party run to win the presidency make Obama the first president since FDR to be reelected with unemployment over 7.2%? At age 76 Paul will never get another chance like this, and on that basis it is likely he will run, but at a terrible cost to his son. Run a third party candidacy and Ron Paul would almost certainly kill Rand's political career and make him a one term senator. Mark Levin's threat aside (I'd hate to be on his bad side (see))
the Kentuckians who sent Rand to the Senate to oppose Barak Obama's leftwing transformational agenda to Europeanize America into "a more perfect(ly socialist) union" would almost certainly primary him out of political existence in 2016. Will the dad make history and sacrifice his worshipful son on the alter of his fanciful dreams? Is the old gizzard that irresponsible and crazy? Or is the son as crazy as he? Will Rand willingly throw away his political career to see his father run imagining that he has a shot at beating Obama and taking the White House? God forbid we see the day.
