THE LAST HURRAH FOR OBAMUNISM
"Economic fairness is the defining issue of our time." In other words, ask what the government can do for you and he'll provide the program.
My prediction that Obama's SOTU speech would be his worst and poorest was wrong. Of the three that he gave this was his best and most spirited. He belt it out of the park. But it wasn't a home run. On the contrary, the ball was a towering foul that wound up in the parking lot behind home plate.
More programs, borrowing, spending and intervention in the economy remains Obama's stupid answer to our treacherous domestic problems as the government goes bust. It was his State of Delusion speech "blaming others for his failed policies, while taking credit for the successful policies of others which he opposed (see)." It was a foul performance through and through full of mendacity, deceit and lies-a blueprint to stay the course toward national decline and suicide. Perhaps it should be called his State of Denial speech as Obama's chronic narcissism and ideology blind him to the peril we are in.
THE ILLINOIS DISASTER
To understand how crazy and delusional our optimistic class warfare president is just look at the economic disaster that's unfolding in his home state of Illinois. Early last year Governor Quinn and his spendthrift Democrat legislature enacted into law the steepest tax hike in Illinois history to solve a growing budget crisis. With the state $13 billion in the red (see) Quinn raised individual income taxes by 66%, and corporate taxes by 46%. A year later and 90,000 jobs less (the unemployment rate jumped from 8.5% to 9.9% (see)) the increased revenue did nothing to solve the problem as a whopping $2.7 billion dollars was added to the state's crushing debt (see). To make matters worse Moodys downgraded Illinois credit rating to the lowest in the nation (see).
But the insanity continues. Refusing to acknowledge the state's chronic and unsustainable spending problem (it spends $3 for every $2 it takes in) Quinn and his party want to double down on taxes and raise more revenues by soaking the rich with an Obama millionaires tax on top of the 66% increase-this will drive the rich from the state like it did in New York and California and worsen things.
In short, as goes liberal leftist Illinois so goes the nation under this president from that state. The worsening Illinois disaster is emblematic of Obama's failed policies and class warfare/fairness populism; and hopefully this will be used by the Republican nominee to completely discredit his presidency and destructive, irresponsible tax-the-rich-spendthrift-big-government ideology.
Postscript I: Ominous Warning From The IMF
Hours before Obama gave his delusional upbeat deceptive speech the ice was cracking beneath his feet as the IMF cut its forecast on world economic growth for the coming year. Predicting a coming recession in Europe that will drag down the world economy the IMF warned developed nations to prepare for the worse (see).
Postscript II: Economic Fairness And The One Term Presidency
Last night Obama said: "Economic fairness is the defining issue of our time (read his administration)." Not economic growth; not economic recovery; not the creation of wealth and jobs; but the redistribution and spreading of wealth. Is it any wonder that the economy is flat on its back? How could it be otherwise with an anti-growth, anti-business, profit hating, egalitarian class warfare ideologue at the helm? This explains why Obama will be a one term president-"FAIRNESS" can't fix an economy.
