WHY WOULD OBAMA WARN OF AN ISRAELI ANTI-NUKE ATTACK ON IRAN?

 Zbigniew Brzezinski

After Leon Panetta in an interview with NY Times reporter David Ignatius warned of his fear of an imminent Israeli attack on Iran's nuclear facilities anti-mullah hawks like Pam Geller have been asking the question:

"Why Would Obama Broadcast an Israeli Attack on Iran's Nuclear Weapons Program in Iran (see)?"

Let's not look for some hidden design or ingenious strategic plan in Panetta's words. He meant what he said every word of it as he fears that an Israeli attack would be a catastrophe for peace in the region driving oil prices through the roof and derailing Obama's pathetically weak economic recovery and reelection campaign.

I believe that key to understanding Panetta's statement can be found in an outrageous comment on the subject made in 2009 by Zbigniew Brzezinski (above) Jimmy Carter's former national security advisor. In an interview with Daily Beast (see) Brzezinski advised Obama to take military action against Israeli warplanes if Netanyahu ordered an attack on Iran-"a US Liberty in reverse*,"  he called it. As a US attack on Israel would be politically suicidal (we are a pro-Israel nation) Obama wouldn't dare to order such a thing. Instead, he and Panetta are trying to do the next best and politically safer thing: preempt an Israeli attack before it gets underway by compromising (shooting down) the mission. If the Israelis have such a mission planned Panetta has seen to it that they've lost the element of surprise, and that could stop or forestall it.

*Perhaps he meant payback for the US Liberty.
