Where are the Occupiers decrying the corruption of blatant CRONY CAPITALISM and the moral hazard of government bailing out "greedy," too big to fail, 1% corporations? Instead of Occupiers denouncing government directed industrial policy to help political insiders in the Chrysler bailout we hear instead from conservative strategist Karl Rove sounding off about the Clint Eastwood Superbowel ad with the pro-OWS Left blasting him and praising the bailout (
see) as a great salvational moment in American history. What hypocrisy!
Just as the Republican nominee for President mustn't let Obama get away with distorting and fudging the unemployment numbers with statistical BLS trickery-Romney in his victory speech Saturday set that number at 15% (counting the underemployed*)-so mustn't he let the liar in chief get away with the myth that he saved the domestic auto industry with the bailouts of GM and Chrysler (this has now cost taxpayers $24 billion (see)).
*Goldman Sachs predicts that the collasping labor force (1.2 million discouraged workers dropped out in January) will continue unabated till the end of the year (
see). If true this practically guarentees a GOP win in November as it will be impossible for Obama during an election year to hide this ugly fact behind his phony, rose colored jobs numbers.
As I wrote here, since the late 19th century the US auto industry has survived the failure and collapse of 735 US auto makers (where's the tragedy?) and would have survived very nicely and prosperously the failure of GM and Chrysler in such companies as Ford, Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Kia, Mercedes, etc. The end of GM and Chrysler (assuming they couldn't have successfully reorganized in bankruptcy) would not have ended consumer demand for new cars built in the USA. New buyers would have simply given their business to the companies listed above. How then did Obama save the US auto industry?

The Republican presidential nominee will need to challenge Obama to come clean and disclose this method to the public.
