OBAMA'S ACCOMO-NOTHING ON CONTRACEPTIVE MANDATE LIKELY TO TURN CHURCH AGAINST OBAMACARE AND HIS REELECTION

Anyone who believes that Obama retreated on and greatly altered his contraceptive mandate to accommodate religious institutions and their First Amendment rights are fooling themselves.
With this so-called accomodation self-funde­d Catholic insurance plans (designed to get around state regulation­s on contracept­ive services) are now forced to offer these services to their employees whether they want to or not. Moreover, where non-Cathol­ic insurers would have to pay for these services it will from higher premiums paid for by the Church, or from money they earned in their contracts with the Church-making the Church indirectly pay for them. Obama, it seems, has completely lost his mind on this issue and is blindly and insanely obsessed with seeing the Church pay for these services one way or the other. This phony accommodation has only added insult to injury and will worsen things for Obama politically. Now Catholic Bishops who supported Obamacare will have no choice but to join with anti-Obamacare forces and fight for its repeal-and this treacherous president's defeat on Election Day.

Postscript I: The Unpopularity Of The Contraceptive Mandate
 
According to Rasmussen (see) most voting Americans are opposed to the contraceptive mandate by an 11 point margin 50% to 39%. Rasmussen also found that 65% of Catholic voters oppose the mandate (most of these use contraceptives) as well as 62% of Evangelicals. Moreover, Obama has all but alienated the Conference of US Catholic Bishops and forced them to join the anti-Obamacare forces. This can only increase Catholic opposition to the unpopular statist healthcare law, and further alarm an already frightened public over the growth, cost and influence of government power. None of this bodes well for Obama in November.
 
 
Postscript II: Obama And The Church On Obamacare And The Contraceptive Mandate
 
To secure Catholic backing for the hugely unpopular Obamacare legislation Obama, Biden, Pelosi and Catholic Democrat lawmakers misled Archbishop Dolan and the US Conference of Catholic Bishops that there'd be no contraceptive mandate in the bill that would infringe on the Church's First Amendment rights. Then when it turned out that the bill carried such a mandate Obama assured Dolan that the Church would be exempt from it. Then when the administration (stabbing Dolan and the Bishops in the back) announced that they'd be no special exemption for the Church it initially responds to the firestorm it unleashed by denying that there was any infringing on the Church's First Amendment rights. Then in a stunning and laughable phony reversal the administration offers a bogus accomodation on the infringement it denied.
