BARACK OBAMA'S WAR ON RELIGION AND HIS ANTI-CATHOLIC COWARDICE

Barack Obama:  High Pope of the Secular Liberal Church

                                                 OBAMA'S CATHOLICLYPSE

Catholic gay rights ideologue Andrew Sullivan wrote a laughable piece at Daily Beast
(see) claiming that Obama's so called "victory" in the birth control mandate controversy with the Catholic Church was a brilliant mastermind move for trapping the pro-traditional marriage, right to life GOP and turning contraceptive using Americans against it. Well this brilliant ploy is already showing signs of backfiring with Catholics as a new Rasmussen poll has 59% of Catholic voters disapproving of Obama's job performance-the highest since becoming president (see).

Catholics it seems are growing disgusted with Obama's war on their church in particular, and on organized religion in general-a war that began before the mandate controversy when last October lawyers for the Justice Department argued before the Supreme Court that faith based institutions lack the constitutional right to fire ministers who heretically differ with their teachings and faith. The Supremos (six of which are Catholic) struck this down 9-0 as a blatant violation of the First Amendment (see).

The anti-religious audacity of this administration is astounding. If Obama had gotten his way, and the Supremos had ruled differently, the Catholic Church, for example, would have lost its right to fire priests who taught that Jesus was gay; or that same sex marriage and abortion are morally okay; or that God doesn't exist. In fact, if Obama's DOJ attorneys had won the case every church and synagogue would be a babal of doctrinal and theological confusion with any minister, rabbi or priest teaching whatever he or she wanted with constitutional impunity. In arguing this case, more than in the mandate controversy, Obama's mask slipped and his war on organized religion was at its most naked and undisguised*.

*In short, this was an attempt by the anti-constitution, religious freedom hating Obama adminstration to bring all religious institutions under government control and reduce them to chaos and impotency.

DEBATES ON SULLIVAN'S BLOG

I posted the following comment on Sullivan's blog which set off a lively debate with his fans:

OBAMA IS A LYING COWARD

Aside from Obama trampling on the church's first amendment rights what about his moral cowardice and lack of leadership on the mandate issue? When Obama met with Archbishop Dolan in November instead of frankly telling him what he intended to do and why he's doing it he cynically deceives him and promises that the church would be exempt from the mandate. Then instead of meeting with Dolan and the Bishops to work out a satisfactory compromise (which is what leaders do) Obama unilaterally issues a final accommodation which adds insult to injury and keeps the issue alive. Tell me that we don't have a lying coward for a president with a serious truth problem. Who but fools like Sullivan would defend his lack of integrity and applaud him as brilliant for it.

He is defended by many in the clergy.
Obama did exactly the right thing.

The churches are exempt while their non church businesses are not.

They can always choose not to be on the exchange.

If the Church is exempt as you say then why did Biden and Bill Daiey plead with Obama to grant it an exemption? Why did they go through the trouble of setting up a meeting with Dolan where Obama assured him that the Church would be exempt and its constitutional rights protected?

BTW, Leftleaner, who among the clergy defends Obama's mandate outside radical leftist types like Father Pfleger?

As Rasmussen's polls show Obama's deception was a miscalculation that is backfiring. Obama has needlessly stirred up a hornets nest that will sting him all the way to Election Day. Hopefully this won't be the last of his blunders.

Actually, I think it is the other way around.

See;
Obama Shatters GOP’s United Front On Birth Control;
“While I will carefully review the details of the President’s revised proposal, it appears to be a step in the right direction,” Susan Collins said.

“It appears that changes have been made that provide women’s health services without compelling Catholic organizations in particular to violate the beliefs and tenets of their faith,” Snowe told the Portland Herald Tribune. “According to the Catholic Health Association, the administration ‘responded to the issues [they] identified that needed to be fixed,’ which is what I urged the president to do in addressing this situation.”

Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) supports the Blunt amendment, his office said, but he hasn’t found much to criticize in the President’s new policy.

Fox News poll shows big majority in favor of Obama contraception rule — even before compromise

From the Hill;
Poll: Majority of Catholics support contraception coverage

This is the mainstream v the fringe.

Unlike the Rasmussen poll the Fox and PPP polls aren't specifically related to the State/Church issue.

Sample Question in Rasmussen poll on Obama's birth control madate: "The requirement to provide contraceptives for women violates deeply held beliefs of some churches and religious organizations. If providing such coverage violates the beliefs of a church or religious organization, should the government still require them to provide coverage for contraceptives?"

Among registered and likely voters the results are as follows:

50% nay, 39% yea.

64% Catholics nay.

62% Evangelicals nay.

Susan Collins and Scott Brown out of 47 Republican Senators? This shatters the GOP's united front? They're just two insignificant cracks.

Rassmussan is considered by many to be the most unreliable poll.

ApolloSpeaks
Leftleaner

Yeah, so unreliable that it predicted Bush's win over Kerry in 2004. The Democrat takeover of Congress in 2006. Obama's presidential victory in 2008, with his party picking up more seats in Congress giving it a super majority. And it predicted the nationwide Republican landslide in 2010.

Is that what you call unreliable LeftLearner?

Rasmussen polls are nothing but right wing bull and should be ignored.

Should we ignore as bull the Rasmussen polls that have Obama ahead of Romney, Santorum, Gingrich and Paul?

I'm trying to understand why somebody who wants to get re-elected in November would pick this kind of fight at this time. I think it shows just how out of touch the man is with mainstream America. Obama will undoubtly go down in history as the worst US president ever.

Ignoring the warnings of Biden and Daley Obama heedlessly went ahead and betrayed his promise to Archbishop Dolan on the mandate thinking he could turn it against the GOP for political gain. As Rasmussen polls show it was a miscalculation that is backfiring. Obama has needlessly stirred up a hornets nest that will sting him all the way to Election Day. Praying for more mastermind moves like this from the anointed one.

OBAMACARE

Obama's hugely unpopular healthcare law is even more unpopular now that he's alienated the pro-Obamacare Bishops for his backstabbing deception and lies on the birth control mandate. Most Catholics side with the bishops that Obamacare is an unconstitutional intrusion in church affairs. derekdj
ApolloSpeaks

Actually Obama's healthcare law isn't hugely unpopular, the American public has already seen benefits, especially by those were denied coverage because of pre-existing conditions.

Of course Catholic voters side with their Bishops, but that does not equate to the way they will vote, American Catholics are selective in their beliefs and are supporters of conceptive products and planned parenthood services as is evident by the size of contemporary families.

The thing is, if the argument is pressed the American public will learn that there is nothing unconstitutional or anti-religious about this policy and that it has been practiced for a decade in 28 states by religious institutions.

57% don't like Obamacare...its the Albatross around Every Democrats neck.
AnyoneforTea
derekdj

derek that is because they haven't yet had to pay for it. It was disingenuously front loaded with benefits and payment to follow.
SnowWolf

Some of those 57% who don't like "Obamacare" don't like it because IT DOESN'T GO FAR ENOUGH! They wanted single payer and are unhappy with the BJ to the insurance companies that is the current bill. To say that 57% of people are on the anti-Obamacare side is wrong.

According to Rasmussen 54% of the voting public vs. 41% favor REPEALING Obamacare-up from 52% since Obama announced his decision to deny exemptions to the Church. A 13 point spread is in landslide land my friend.

BTW, those who oppose Obamacare because "it doesn't go far enough" aren't in the repeal camp.

The Church is screaming now when they should have before he was even elected. Keep screaming Church, this may be some of your last day’s to have a platform to say anything.

It is time to tend to your flock, you have far too many that strayed and voted for this guy.

Perhaps the Church is about to redeem itself for the sin of electing Obama president.
