The majestic austere Simonos Petra Monastery at Mt. Athos, Greece.
Don't get your hopes up that yesterday's election in deadbeat Greece will fix or change anything. Greece is broke and broken wanting the EU to bail it out after first lying its way into the Union then living beyond its means and spending itself into ruin. And Germany, understandably, will not do so without painfully stringent austerity measures to cut things to the bone (or cut into it) which Greeks are reluctant to do after partying like reckless teenagers for years. The Greeks want the party to go on (like Democrats here at home) with the EU footing the bill-because decades of screwball socialist indoctrination taught them that they're entitled to it. The good life is there's by divine right, and the great God of Government is obliged to provide it. If not the Greek government then Germany and others. For hard working Germany that's earned all of its wealth to cave in would be a MORAL HAZARD with country after country (Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Italy etc.) wanting an entitlement bailout too, thus creating a monstrous black hole sucking all of Europe into oblivion. What is the solution and salvation for Greece? Living like the monks on Mt. Athos.
Poor bearded Mt. Athos monk unfazed by Greek crisis as he practically has nothing but God.
The signs were ominous. Yesterday bankrupt, broken, Moslem Brotherhood Egypt (once a conquered Greek province under Alexander the Great) held elections. But worse still yesterday June 17, 2012 was the 82nd anniversary of the hapless Herbert Hoover defying scores of economists and signing into law the Smoot-Hawley Tariff (Trade Protection) Act, which triggered an international trade war and plunged the world into the Great Depression-the mother of World War II.
Greek Fire Answers West Coast Babe
Greek monks as models of austerity for Greek citizens? Isn't that going a bit too far? These monks are sex hating, women hating celibates. Women are forbidden on Mt. Athos. God forbid a woman goes there discipline and morality would break down."
Greek Fire replies:
"West Coast Babe
Women visitors are welcomed at any Greek monastery outside Mt. Athos. Greeks can't live as monks. But monks can be used as inspiration for living with less, which my people must do to survive the challenges ahead. Besides, it wouldn't be a bad idea for more Greeks to turn to God to find the spiritual strength to face this ordeal and triumph in the end. "Put not your trust in princes," said King David. In God we must trust. Not in government."
My meaning exactly.
God is a being of incalculable power; and we can draw on His Divine strength to endure the changes and challenges of fortune. Unfortunatately for government worshipping secularists, and anti-religious leftists like WCB, they cannot understand this.
