From colossus to midgetman in 3 1/2 years
Writing for Huffington Post Peter Goodman posted this blog yesterday: How Loss of Enthusiasm Among Youth Voters Could Cost Obama the Presidency. He's not the first to note that "A slice of the youth electorate has soured..... on the president....." And that it could cost him the election.
Replacing the promise that made people faint is the sad reality of disappointment and failure that's making them puke.
It's also called MESSIAH FATIGUE. The savior who'd redeem Progressivism and save it from the flames is hastening its demise, as he presides over a country in steep economic, military and geopolitical decline. It wasn't hard to predict as I and others did that Obama would be the Left's worse nightmare. And so he is scaring the hell out of the electorate with his stay the course big government schemes.
Some men are made for the presidency, others are not. There are the Lincolns, Teddy Roosevelts, FDRs, Kennedys and Reagans. Then there are the Buchanans, Tafts, Hoovers, Carters and Obamas. No sooner do greatly gifted men like Lincoln step into the office than they are energized and transformed by it, becoming larger than life and able to achieve great things; while men like Obama unsuited for the office are diminished by it and shrunken down in size looking feeble and ant like; unable to get their presidencies off the ground they end up one termers despised by history suffering a bitter post-presidency until they die.
After Obama's first year the bloom came off the rose. After his second year the rose pedals wilted and died. And what's left for the prez is the thorny stem to tear his flesh and bleed him to death as he heads toward the political graveyard.
His political epitaph will read:

2009 to 2013
Here lies a man who entered the
presidency a Superman,
but left a Lois Lane.

I reply:
A lame blame game. If Obama were half the man Obamacons like you imagined he was in 2008-the inspiring, world redeeming leftist savior-he'd have the power to overcome every obstacle blocking his path to utopian transformation by rallying the folks to his side. Reagan overcame a hostile liberal media, a Democrat Congress and the international Nuclear Freeze Movement. Clinton overcame Rush Limbaugh, the Moral Majority, a Republican Congress and impeachment over the Lewinsky scandal. Obama lacks the governing, leadership, negotiating and communication skills that made the Reagan and Clinton presidencies a success despite the adversity, obstacles and toxic environment. This is why Clinton calls Obama the "amateur." This is why he made him look like a teenager in the Briefing Room in 2010 (see ). This is why I said early in Obama's term that he is the great anti-Reagan with an anti-Reagan destiny (see). He's been tested and tried for over 1200 days and lacks the right stuff for the presidency.

The shrinking Obama economy is anti-Youth, anti-old people, anti-everything inbetween. It's bad for the poor, bad for the working middle class, bad for the retired and rich. It's bad for America and the world. In a word, it's colossally and cosmically bad. The "4th greatest president in history" is good 4 nothing.

It has ended for 25% of Americans whereas the other 75% see recession without end-which Obama assured us would be our fate if his stimulus wasn't passed.

And Unlce Ben [in Spiderman] spoke of great power and great responsibility, which applies in the context of Republicans more than your Confucius quote does to Obama. It's a wonderful statement that usually makes people quite intelligent, when used in the proper context. in this case it's being used as a dodge; an attempt to avoid addressing an issue one may not feel comfortable or confidant discussing. It's an easy out for most, allowing them to leave with an air of dignity. IN this case though, it doesn't work quite as well as I think you would like it too. If there was a scoring system in effect I would give you points for effort.
My reply
Aristotle defined political greatness as " Wisdom translated into practical programs and policies." Where is Obama's wisdom? Where's his truth? In a government stimulus program that's failed at economic recovery whenever it's been tried? In a healthcare law that greatly expands the size, scope and cost of government when its going broke, and the public is crying STOP?! In a foreign policy of accommodation, appeasement and abasement in a predatory world that's incurred the contempt of friends and enemies and made the world a more dangerous place as our power and prestige decline? Obama's presidency was doomed from the start. Ignorance and greatness are light years apart.
