On Monday outgoing Defense Secretary Leon Panetta responding to the hostage crisis in Algeria that left three Americans and 34 others dead warned “U.S. forces had made key gains against al-Qaida in Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia and elsewhere... but that it has shown a capacity to rebound even after being pushed out of safe havens." He then likened the menace of al Qaida to a malignant disease calling it a "cancer." Then several days later (as Robert Spencer notes here) Hillary Clinton said in her testimony on the Benghazi tragedy “We now face a spreading jihadist threat...We have to recognize this is a global movement.” Hurrah!
In other words, the Moslem outreach, al-Qaida is decimated, jihad is spiritual purification, see no evil in Islam administration (which coined terrorist acts with euphemisms like "man made disasters" and "workplace violence") has been mugged by the reality that global anti-American jihad is alive and well and growing like a disease. And if the disease of violent menacing jihad is growing abroad it is certain that it's growing here at home waiting in the shadows to launch a mass murder attack.
