Moore who bellyached that the killing of the gunless Osama Bin Laden was illegal (and likened al-Qaida terrorists operating in Iraq to "Minute Men") praised Zero Dark Thirty because it shows that Bush's regime of sadistic torture was an ineffective obstacle in finding the terror chief when that made it possible.
Blindness makes the Left go round in endless dizzying circles; and among the blindest lefties around is rotund, capitalist hating, weak on terror, useful idiot, Socialist Michael Moore-the loon who wanted to build Imam Rauf's Ground Zero Mosque right smack on top of the al-Qaida destroyed World Trade Center, and likened al-Qaida terrorists fighting our troops in Iraq to "Minute Men. In a recent piece for HuffPo Moore praises the excellent, blockbuster, box office hit Zero Dark Thirty (about the finding and killing of Osama bin Laden) for all the wrong reasons. For Moore this was an anti-Bush, anti-torture film that shows between the lines that Bush's torture program for extracting valuable intelligence from Islamic terrorists was an ineffective obstacle in tracking down and killing bin Laden. And that it wasn't until Obama became president and Bush's horrible torture regime ended that a renewed and stronger focus on finding Bin Laden bore fruit-as if Bush's hunt was too lax to succeed. It was good old fashioned detective work, says Moore, not illegal, sadistic torture techniques that put bin Laden in the grave.
Apart from the fact that Moore bellyached that the killing of the gunless bin Laden was illegal (meaning that torture or not the Seal Six operation was morally and legally wrong (see)), and that Leon Panetta initially said (to Obama's embarrassment) that non-lethal, medically supervised Enhanced Interrogation Techniques (torture) were a factor in finding bin Laden, the CIA under Bush was no less relentless in pursuing him than was the agency under Obama-this is borne out by the film. Indeed, if Bush had had a third term bin Laden would now be dead all the same-and perhaps sooner as Obama dangerously dithered for seven months before giving the order to raid bin Laden's hideout.
But my question to Moore is this: how can he trust that Obama isn't secretly using torture on terrorist detainees in black ops cells somewhere in the world? Is Gitmo closed as Obama promised it would be? Was the Patriot Act allowed to expire? Were Bush CIA interrogators prosecuted for torture as Obama and Holder promised? Did KSM get his civilian trial? The answer to these questions is NO. So how can Moore trust that Obama is any less of a criminal "torturer" than was George Bush? Indeed, if Obama found that the Patriot Act (which Moore opposes as a dangerous infringement on our liberties (see)) is "an important tool for us to continue dealing with an ongoing terrorist threat (see)," and as he expanded Bush's deadly drone and special ops programs (see), then how can Moore not be skeptical that the most deceitful and duplicitous president since Richard Nixon is an anti-torture hypocrite covertly continuing the practice of waterboarding and other torturous interrogation methods?
