I am sick to death of hearing Obama and the Left blame our unsustainable deficit and debt and economic mess on George Bush and his two unpaid for credit card wars in Iraq and Afghanistan; and that Bush's wars squandered the budget surplus of the Clinton years which if sustained could have put us on the road to paying down our national debt. What these pro-Clinton Bush derangement critics miss is that if President Clinton had had a third term the 9/11 catastrophe would have happened all the same followed by the Global War on Terror, the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan and the spending of the budget surplus to pay for them. Those who doubt that Clinton would have went to war against Saddam forget about his signing of the Iraq Liberation Act in 1998 which made regime change in Iraq the official US policy (see); they also forget that both Clinton and his then senator wife supported the Iraq War Resolution authorizing Bush to use force in the removal of Saddam Hussein as the only solution to regime change-as all other means (bombings, sanctions, boycots, uprisings) had been exhausted. Indeed, when Operation Iraqi Freedom was underway Bill and Hillary (like most Americans) cheered our troops and supported Bush. In one of many two minute debates with Bob Dole on 60 Minutes Clinton said (11 days after hostilities started against Saddam) "Senator [Dole], unlike some of your Republican friends during Kosovo, I support our troops in Iraq and our President (see)." Later lying Slick Willy would claim that he opposed the Iraq War calling it "a big mistake" hoping everyone would forget the truth (see).
In short, little would have changed if Clinton had a third term: we would have went to war in Iraq and Afghanistan and the budget surplus would have been spent and replaced with exploding deficits and debt; and if Clinton had a forth term the nation would have suffered the same devastating housing/financial crisis of which his affordable housing program for low income borrowers was the ultimate source and fountainhead (see).
