ANSWER TO DENNIS PRAGER ON OBAMA'S SECRET INTERROGATION METHODS

President Obama claimed that the brutal use of waterboarding to extract actionable, life saving intelligence from terrorists wasn't necessary to keep us safe since 9/11 and that gentler, kinder more humane methods were available to the Bush Administration and master torturer Dick Cheney to get this information and save lives. 

Dennis Prager in today's column: "President Has “More Effective” Method to Get Intel from Terrorists – What Is It?" challenges the President to disclose what he would have used in place of waterboarding saying: "if in fact, these methods exist, they have never been revealed. President Obama needs to share this discovery with the American people, or, if they must be state secrets, with a select few individuals from Congress and the intelligence community."

Prager concludes his article on a skeptical note questioning the president's veracity that these alternate methods even exist saying: "I, for one, pray those methods exist. But I don't believe they do or that the President has a clue what they are."

But the President wasn't lying. Such a method does exist. It's been staring everyone in the face and it surprises me that the perceptive Dennis Praeger hasn't seen it. For Obama has in fact revealed this secret, revealed it to us many times and on many occasions, but without specifying its use for interrogating terrorists. It's the secret that got him elected president and turned him into the most powerful man on earth; the secret behind his unprecedented success; the secret of "OBAMANOSIS."

CLOSING OF GITMO IS A VICTORY FOR AL QAIDA

The closing of Gitmo will be a victory for Al Qaida, not a great victory, but a victory nonetheless. Why? If you were Bin Ladin where would you want the detainees to be incarcerated? Where they would do Al Qaida the most good, of course. Gitmo as a rallying cry for swelling Al Qaida's ranks is terrorist propaganda and a leftist myth. Terrorists who claim that they joined Al Qaida because of prisoner abuse at Abu Gharib and Gitmo are trained to lie and taught to say that. The object of anti-Gitmo propaganda is to close down the facility where the detainees only see each other, their lawyers and prison guards and do Al Qaida little good. On shore in a Federal prison the detainees at least have the chance, however small, of spreading their poisonous ideology to other inmates and making deadly converts. The absurd outcry against Gitmo as a symbol of prisoner abuse most likely originated with Al Qaida; when the facility closes down and its inmates are gone it will be a propaganda victory for them. This is another stark example of the lunatic Left acting as the witless agents and dupes of our enemies; unfortunately it now includes the president.

CHENEY THROWS DOWN GAUNTLET TO OBAMA (SECOND REVISED)

In his AEI speech Cheney threw down the gauntlet to Obama and dared him to prosecute either himself, George Bush or anyone from his administration for torture, war crimes and egregious human rights violations. In so many words Cheney challenged Obama to take a stand, show some spine and act on his charges saying:

'Mr. President, if crimes were committed by our administration violating US and international law then stop the phony moralizing and lofty sounding speeches and act. If laws were broken and human rights criminally wronged, if we went above and beyond the law going too far in fighting Al Qaida and preventing new attacks on our soil, then you have a constitutional duty to clear the air; a duty to this country, the world and posterity to see that justice is done, that we evil ones are punished and put in jail. If you have evidence of criminal wrong doing, proof that we committed crimes disgracing our country and flag doing nothing would make you complicit in our crimes. Say what you like to make yourself look holy; wrap yourself in the Constitution and rule of law, inaction is equal to sanctioning our behavior and sharing in our shame.

So stop this game of blame and righteousness anger, Mr. President; stop playing American Idol to the crowd basking in their blind adulation and need for heroes. The world wants justice and cries out for our blood: Iraq, Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, torture we defamed America and all you do is scold us. If our crimes go unpunished and we get off scot free nothing will be achieved: America's standing and image in the world will remain in ruins; the ranks of Al Qaida will continue to swell; our security will suffer and history will revile you as a criminal yourself. This is your defining moment, Mr. President, to prove your superior worth in word and deed; to cleanly break from the terrible dark past, to separate yourself from the atrocities of our regime, from our inhumanity to man. Action speaks louder than words, Mr. President: PROSECUTE AND PUNISH US, OR SHUT THE HELL UP!

Yesterday Dick Cheney virtually took his middle finger and stuck it in Barack Obama's lying little face daring him to prosecute any member of the Bush Administration for torture and war crimes; and to make good on his pledge "never to hide the truth because it's uncomfortable" by showing all his cards. Cheney tore away the veil of Obamamania and media worship revealing a mental and moral midget, a sad, shortsighted, petty little man with less than half a brain for his job and even less character for its challenges. Cheney's effrontery has completely unnerved the screaming leftist ninnies of sissyland just as Churchill did in the 1930s when he castigated Neville Chamberlain for his dangerous naivety when dealing with Hitler. If waterboarding violated international law and was a useless tool for keeping America safe then
 
What is Obama hiding?

What is he afraid of?

Why won't he release the redacted Torture Memos and prove Dick Cheney wrong about the life saving intell gathered from waterboarding three terrorist thugs?

What is in these memos that he wants kept secret, that he doesn't revealed?

Is this what he calls transparency and integrity, an ethical administration second to none?
 
Is this the man with "steel in his spine?"

THE PALESTINIAN STATE OF MIND (REVISED)

It is now being reported that the meeting with Obama and Netanyahu at the White House on Tuesday went badly. That the two leaders were at loggerheads over the issue of Palestinian statehood with Netanyahu resisting Obama's plea that Israel freeze settlement building on the West Bank and restarting the peace process pursue a two state solution to end the conflict.

This is what many of us feared: Israel and the US are now on a collision course with the president living in a fantasy world believing that peace is now possible; that the Palestinians deep down want what he wants; that he represents their true interests, yearnings and values; that they too want a two state solution because it's the only reasonable answer; and that somewhere along the negotiating path the dawn will break on Hamas and Abbas, that he will charm them into seeing the wisdom of accepting Israel's existence as a Jewish state. That is what Obama is audaciously hoping; hoping that an Anwar Sadat will emerge from these talks and risking life and limb take the bold steps necessary for peace. Nothing ventured nothing gained is Obama's message to a rightly intransigent Netanahyu and a disillusioned Israeli public who with one voice are shouting "Never Again!" Never again will Israel cede land to the Palestinians until they first have a radical change of heart; until they wake up to the reality that the Jewish state is here to stay as if by divine decree; that she has existed for 61 years against staggering odds surviving wars, terrorist attacks and universal hostility as if a supernatural power were guiding her fate. In short, until the Palestinians realize that defeating Israel is beyond their capabilities and lose hope of victory anytime in the future there will be no peace.

Netanyahu won't join Obama in putting the cart before the horse. If Obama wants peace he's got to work for it. He has to unilaterally engage the Palestinians as he is planning to do with Iran and trying to talk sense into them make them realize the futility and hopelessness of their cause. As Obama claimed in Tuesday's press conference that he has "an argument that will pursuade Tehran to give up its nuclear ambitions" let him turn his skills on the Palistinians; let him frame an
unanswerable argument to pursuade them to abandon their jihad against Israel. Israel needs no persuading, from its founding moment it wanted peace begging its Arab neighbors to accept the two state solution ratified by non-Moslem nations at the UN. Time and time again Israel has proved its earnest desire for a resolution to its conflict with the Arabs: the return of Sinai to Egypt (90% of its captured territory from the Six Days War), and granting Palestinians autonomy by ending the occupation of Gaza and the West Bank, is proof enough. Israel has carried the burden of peace to the limit, it has nothing more to give. Now it's time for the Palestinians to prove themselves, to overcome their racism, cultural imperialism and religious intolerance; to transcend the sins that poison them with hate, that keeps them at war with Israel, a war that has been their undoing, that has been their curse and ruin.

Mr. President, at this time in history there is no two state solution to the Palestinian-Israeli
conflict, no one state solution, no three state solution with Hamas governing Gaza and the PA the West Bank as some propose. Unless you help the Palestinians to radically alter their state of mind, transforming them from barbarians into civilized human beings prepared to live in freedom and peace, the dream of peace will remain unrealized and war will continue long into the future with more bloodshed and suffering to come.

WHERE I SUPPORT OBAMA

It is rare when I find myself in agreement with President Obama. In fact, the number of his policies that I support are so few that they can fit on the head of a pin. But among those few policies is his dream to rid the earth of nuclear weapons. I pray that Obama achieves this dream in my lifetime and I will do all I can to help him. Why? Because I was born too late for World War II; I was an early baby boomer, a post-war kid who missed what it was like to live in the pre-nuclear age of great power wars; who missed the thrill of London being bombed by V-2s, the Battle of Stalingrad, the Dresden blitzkrieg, Pearl Harbor and Normandy. I'm tired of reading about these things and watching old war films and documentaries. I yearn to turn back the clock and experience them for myself. Now perhaps my only hope, my one and only chance to live through such times is President Obama.

OBAMA OUTPOLLS NETANYAHU IN ISRAEL (REVISED)

The Huffington Post is all abuzz over a new poll conducted in Israel and the Palestinian territories by a London based leftist group which found that President Obama is regarded by most Israelis as more trustworthy than Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu and that a large majority of Israelis and Palestinians want Obama to get actively involved to solve the terrible conflict between them. However, the pollster Paul Hilder, of Avaaz.org, draws the wrong conclusions from his polls, wrongly believing that they signal an unprecedented opportunity to resolve the conflict and that Obama is the man who can do it-the right man at the right time in history to bring peace (see Hilder's Why Israelis Trust Obama More Than Bibi Netanyahu).

What is wrong with this interpretation is that Israelis’ confidence in Obama over Netanyahu, 59% to 31%, is most likely due to the belief that his Moslem family roots and Arabic middle name would give him a huge diplomatic edge over Netanyahu in persuading the Palestinians to accept the reality of the Jewish state, to abandon their jihad against her and drop the demand for a right of return of Palestinian refugees. In fact, this poll is less a reflection on Netanyahu’s untrustworthiness than on the powerlessness of any Jewish PM to achieve a diplomatic breakthrough of this kind.

Moreover, if Palestinians who overwhelmingly reject Israel’s right to exist want Obama to get actively involved as a broker in new peace talks it's because they may view his Moslem roots as something propitious and lucky for them; they may see him as a Godsend, as Allah's tool for weakening Israel’s security through new land concessions while giving nothing in return except empty promises of abandoning violence and accepting Israel’s existence, just as Arafat did.

In short, if Obama tries to tackle this intractable problem and dares go down this dangerous path it will end up in hell like the Oslo Accords, a roadmap to bloodshed and ruin. In the absence of a peace partner, a Palestinian Anwar Sadat, when it comes to Israel's conflict with this people talk like Bill Clinton, walk like George Bush is the best way for a leader to go.

OBAMA'S MOSLEM OUTREACH INITIATIVE AND WHY IT WILL FAIL (REVISED)

This is not a complicated subject. If Obama is to succeed in reversing the massive Moslem anti-American hatred caused by the Mideast policies of George Bush and the War on Terror then he must do two things: turn against Israel and return Iraq to Sunni control.

Obama can stress his Moslem roots call himself Hussein and praise Islam to the sky but it will do nothing to repair US-Moslem relations and his initiative will fail. Israel's existence on the Arabian Peninsula, the birth place of Islam, is profoundly anguishing and humiliating to Moslems everywhere and to Arab racial pride in particular. Moslems want a one state solution in "Palestine" with Israeli Jews living in oppression under Arab Moslem rule in accord with Islamic Law. Moslems will settle for nothing less than Israel's demise and for Obama to want anything less makes him look like a Zionist stooge in bed with Islam's enemies (see note 1).

However, even if Obama were to desert Israel and join her enemies in replacing the "Zionist entity" with a Palestinian Moslem State it would not fully placate the Sunni world and its bitterness over the loss of Iraq to Shiite heretics. Unless Obama joins the Sunni cause to return Iraq to the status quo ante of Sunni control Sunni resentment of America-even with Israel gone-would remain a powerful force (see note 2). Obama has no rational choice but to continue the policies of George W. Bush which kept us safe for seven years, Moslem hatred and all; or seek a peace rejected by Islam (a two state solution) and lead Israel, the Palestinians and the region into greater instability and turmoil (see HOW OBAMA CAN WIN THE LOVE OF ISLAM and HAMAS LEADER SEEKS TWO STATE SOLUTION ).

NOTES

1. Arab Sunni leaders: the Saudis, King Abdullah, Mubarak and Abbas call for a two state solution while demanding the right of return for all Palestinian "refugees" which would effectively destroy Israel's existence as a Jewish State.

2. For Obama to appease the powerful Wahabis of Saudi Arabia he would have to abandon the democratically elected government of Afghanistan and allow the return of their allies the Taliban to power.

MORAL CLARITY ON THE USE OF TORTURE

I will be more direct and pointed than Charles Krauthammer in his excellent article. You're abducted by vicious bloodthirsty terrorists who are slowly and sadistically killing you by torture: snipping off toes and fingers, drilling holes into your flesh and burning your body with acid-as happened to a young Jew in France. I have a terrorist in custody who knows of your whereabouts; he has a moral obligation to rat on his friends and give me the information that could save you. He refuses to cooperate thus guaranteeing your continued torture and death. As a last resort I force him to do what's morally right by torturing the truth out of him and save you from your nightmare. Who in their proper mind could find fault with me for doing this? For compelling a terrorist to do what is right and cooperate in the saving of a human life? What fool would dare accuse me of being no better than a terrorist, of being morally depraved, deserving of prosecution and punishment? Who would be that dumb, that stupid, that senseless? Who?

TORTURE AND THE HIGHER LAW OF PATRIOTISM (REVISED)

Dr. Krauthammer's article in today's TH "The Torture Debate, Continued" is a praiseworthy exercise in situation ethics where moral principles against torture, which he and most every American share, are cast aside in a national emergency; when love of country requires us to become Jack Bauers doing unsavory things like torturing human beings for the greater good of national security and saving American lives. Patriotism (love of country) is the ultimate national law overruling what is written; the "Higher Law" of Martin Luther King who defied the written Jim Crow Laws to end racial discrimination and advance national morality and American ideals of justice and equal rights. If Bush and Cheney broke the law with the practice of waterboarding on jailed al-Qaida terrorists-whether or not it saved lives-then it puts them in league with men of conscience and conviction like Dr.King and like him they deserve the highest praise.

HOW OBAMA CAN WIN THE LOVE OF ISLAM (REVISED)

As Obama is intent on winning the love and adulation of the Arab/Moslem world he is under great pressure from King Abdullah of Jordan, Abdullah of Saudi Arabia and other Arab leaders to force Israel into a disastrous premature peace with the Palestinians-disastrous because Israel has no real peace partner. Ironically, a two-state solution is as unpopular in the Moslem world as it is among Palestinians. Like most Palestinians most Moslems deny Israel's right to exist as a Jewish State and want to see it disappear from history. Israel's existence is a painful refutation of many cherished Moslem truths foremost of which is Islamic supremicism and the future of Islam promised by the prophet Mohammed-the future of universal domination. That God's supreme religion has a divine right to supreme power on earth-political, cultural, economic and military-is Gospel to most Moslems whether moderates or extremists.

The existence of a thriving non-Moslem democratic state situated on the Arabian Peninsula (birthplace of Islam) is a nightmare for most Moslems-a "catastrophe" causing doubt and spiritual crisis. This is the harsh reality of the region that no amount of diplomacy or concessions made by Israel can change or overcome. For Obama to succceed in his Moslem outreach initiative and transform massive Moslem hatred of the US caused by Bush's Mideast policies into honor and love then he must radically redirect US foreign policy and joining the right side of Moslem history join in the jihad against Israel and work for her destruction (see my essay HAMAS LEADER SEEKS TWO STATE SOLUTION ).
 
Postscript I
 
Not only is Israel's legally, morally and historically justified existence a capital crime against the Moslem community and Islamic Law but it's also deeply and bitterly offensive to Arab pride and Arab racism-the Arab world's racial superiority complex. As Arab/Moslems were once masters of a great and powerful empire stretching from the Himalayas to the Pyrenees, this people dream of restoring the glorious past and see Israel as an obstacle to achieving this-an obstacle that needs to be forcibly removed. Israel's liquidation is both a religious duty and a racial neceessity, the will of God and racial justice, and until such time as these medieval views are transcended and
overcome a comprehensive peace in the Middle East is a pipe dream and very dangerous to pursue.

Postscript II: Placating the Sunni World
 
Come to think of it even if Obama were to join in the jihad to destroy Israel that in itself would not be enough to placate Sunni anti-Americanism. To fully achieve this Obama would have to completely reverse Bush's policies on Iraq and restoring the status quo ante return the country to Sunni control.
