Apart from the negative impact that the President’s anti-torture, soft-on-terror and appeasement policies toward Islam are having on the morale and intel gathering capabilities of the CIA, Leon Panetta’s leadership of the agency is very troubling. What troubles me is not so much Panetta’s lack of experience in the intelligence field-George H. W. Bush had no experience when he became top spy-but from the signs given on the day of Panetta’s birth and the day he was sworn in as Director. Consider this:
As Panetta heads the agency that is at the forefront on the Global War on Terror and keeping America safe from jihadi attacks his birth date seems especially ominous of a coming intelligence and security breakdown for several reasons:
Panetta was born on the 24th anniversary of the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand, the murder in Serbia that triggered World War I (see note 1).
The day of his birth was just 94 days or 13 weeks away from the signing of the ill-fated Munich Pact where Hitler duped Neville Chamberlain into believing that an historic breakthrough in peace was achieved when in fact it set the stage for World War II (see note 2).
The day Panetta was sworn in has CIA Chief was six days from Biden’s ominous trip to Munich and less than 24 hours from the crash of Flight 3407 which took the life of 9/11 widow Beverly Eckert who met with the president several days before (see BIDEN DOES MUNICH 2009
and OMINOUS MEETING AT WHITE HOUSE WITH 9/11 WIDOW ).
Chamberlain’s Munich debacle, Biden’s feeble speech in Munich, the deaths of Ferdinand and Beverly Eckert are not signs that inspire confidence or hope in Panneta or this administration. The job done by the CIA in the post-911 era under Tenet, Goss and Hayden went against the odds in keeping us safe for seven years and was admirable; but that was during an administration that gave the highest priority to fighting our enemies and winning the Global War on Terror. That spirit of commitment to victory is now gone from the White House retiring with Bush and Cheney as the War on Terror has given way to other priorities such as Global Warming, nationalizing healthcare, spreading wealth and appeasing Islam.
Could it be that we are at the start of another disastrous intelligence failure or a crippling demoralization of the CIA similar to what happened in the 1970s with the Church Committee? What was said at the time by Henry Kissinger about Church’s dangerous naivety could easily be applied to Barack Obama’s good intentions that it is a fantasy that “tranquility can be achieved by an abstract purity of motive for which history offers no examples.” Frank Church who came to the conclusion that America’s strategy and tactics in fighting the Cold War was dangerously wrong once said that America shouldn’t “fight fire with fire and evil with evil.” Several years later Jimmy Carter, Obama’s precursor in weakness and ignorance in the difficult conduct of foreign affairs, echoing Church said in a speech criticizing our “inordinate fear of Communism” that “fire should be fought with water,” in dealing with enemies-enemies who wanted to bury us. Unfortunately for Carter the water he used to to fight fire quickly vaporized when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan and Khomenie seized our embassy in Tehran-the opening salvo in radical Islam‘s war on America. On the day of his duel with Dick Cheney Obama sounding like Carter said of Bush’s post-9/11 policies that “hasty decisions were made based upon fear rather than foresight” in preventing another terror attack. Church, Carter, Obama, Panetta and others on the Left are different faces of the same immaturity and childishness in dealing with the brutal realities of a predatory world where the only law observed by our enemies is that of the jungle.
But this brings me back to Dick Cheney who at the time of the Church hearings worked for Nixon and Ford when William Colby was CIA Chief. In fact Colby who was chief for three years and presided over the gutting of his agency by Church-a major factor contributing to the 9/11 event-left office on January 30, 1976 the day Chief of Staff Cheney was celebrating his 35th birthday (see note 3). Cheney was there watching with anxiety as the CIA was being decimated and putting us in harms way. Now 33 years later and drawing on his vast experience Cheney is sounding the alarm that the past may very well be repeating itself with a new President who like Carter is clearly unfit for command and a CIA Chief with a leftist world view incompatible with the awesome responsibilities of his office.
NOTES
1. Serb nationalist Gavino Princip shot and killed Ferdinand on June 28, 1914.
2. Panetta who was sworn into office on the 13th day of February was born 13 weeks or 94 days before the signing of the Hitler-Chamberlain Munich Pact. Moreover, 94 is a variant of the number 13 (9+4=13) and Chamberlain was 195 days into his 69th year when he signed the Pact with Hitler. What is significant about 195 is that it‘s a multiple of 13 15 times, hence:
March 18, 1938 (Chamberlain’s 69th birthday) to September 30, 1938 (signing of the Munich Pact)=195 days.
13x15=195
And lastly when we translate the initials CIA into their numerical equivalents we get a value 13, hence:
CIA
391=13*
*Using the standard English numerological system where A to H=1 to 9, I to R=1 to 9 and S to Z=1 to 8.
3. See the 9/11 Commission Report.
